About this file

This document outlines requirements for a stewardship contract to perform emergency fuels reduction treatments in Giant Sequoia groves located on National Forest System lands within the Sequoia National Forest and Sierra National Forest in California. The contract will make multiple awards to ensure rapid completion of critical hand thinning, mechanical thinning, piling, burning, and removal of forest fuels from eight groves. Estimated mandatory product removal includes 50,919 tons of mixed conifer timber from three groves. Treatment specifications and maps will be provided with the full solicitation. Interested parties should attend pre-solicitation site visits scheduled for October to facilitate dialogue on contractual requirements. It is anticipated the request for quotes will be issued on or around October 17th, 2022, with the contract awarded using best value and having a firm fixed price.
