Alter Building 3 for Extreme Computing Facility

FA8751-19-B-A001

Q&A Part 2

Q1. What are the type and quantity of plugs needed for the Starline Plug-Bus on Drawing E-101?

A1. The plug-in devices for the electrical bus shall be acquired directly by the end user.

Q2. Will we be able to work in the office space (to get access into the ceiling space) to the left of the construction area to run our electrical feeders to the main switch gear?

A2. Work in/above the adjacent office suite can be conducted with the appropriate notification (minimum 2 weeks’ notice) of dates and duration of disruption.

Q3. Can an armored OM4 & OS2 fiber optic cable be used in place of fiber ran through corrugated innerduct as stated in spec 271300 2.5?

A3. No, Only all Di-electric cable is to be used. There should be nowhere that self-supporting cable is used. All fiber should be corning MIC riser tight buffered cable terminated in CCH panels in the closet. The lab ends (wall mount) can be a multi-media style surface mount, muto style etc. We will review those submittals. Other fibers going in two racks in spaces can be in CCH patch panels.

Q4. Note 2 & 9 on drawing ET-101 ask for 24 Cat6A cables, a 12-strand OM4 fiber & a 12-strand OS2 fiber to be terminated on patch panel. Detail 5 is asking they be terminated in a wall-mount enclosure. Is it necessary to use a wall mounted enclosure? Or is it the intent to use standalone patch panel for the Cat6a and a fiber termination box?

A4. The lab ends (wall mount) can be a 12/24 port multi-media style surface mount, muto style etc., or a CCH style enclose. We will review those submittals. Other fibers going in two racks in spaces should be in CCH patch panels. Panduit has different style surface mount boxes and panels that are wall mounted, best judgement for ease of access, protection and wire management in the limited space provided.

Q5. Note 2 asks to provide 24 Cat6A cables, 1 12-strand OS2, are they going back to G8-P to be terminated or do they stay within that room and the 4” conduits are left empty?

A5. These should be one in the same, all labs get the fiber and copper back to G8-P through the conduits, which should use Maxcell 3cell 3inch, not corrugated inner-duct, the copper and maxcell can be pulled in together, then the fiber pulled into the maxcell(the second conduit is spare). , Note 9(same verbiage should be for note 10), and the missing note 10 are indicating the feeds for the two racks that are in the confined spaces behind display wall and mod flex.

Q6. Drawing ET-101, has a Note 10 displayed near the Data Rack in the Tech Mod Flex space. There is no Note 10 in the note section. Is this a typo?
