1. Please clarify if the frames are to be 5-inch or 10-inch?
Attachment #1 - Cover PD Little Rock – Section 3.2.7.2 Roller Frames states, “All roller frames mounted to the floor shall be minimum 5-inch structural steel channel…”
Attachment #2 – Appendix A Little Rock – Gravity Roller Conveyor – Section 3.2.1.2 Roller Frames states, “All roller frames mounted to the floor shall be a minimum 10-inch structural steel channel…”
Answer – Appendices A and B for Little Rock need to be deleted from the requirements.
The specifications found in Appendices A and B are also located in the Cover PD. Please review AMD 001 to the RFP.
2. Reference – Attachment 5 - Appendix A Altus – Gravity Roller Conveyor – Section 3.2.8 Conveyor Guide Rails states, “Rails shall be 10-inch x 4-inch x ½-inch structural angle steel.”
According to (Steel Processor) 10-inch x 4-inch x ½-inch structural angle steel is not commercially available.
Please advise if a 5-inch x 5-inch x 1/2 -inch on a pedestal as shown below.
This would allow for floors under the conveyors to be swept without removal of conveyor rollers.
Answer – Specifications were changed to allow smaller angle with supports.
3. Reference Attachment #4 – Cover PD – Altus – Section 3.1.7 Mezzanine Railing Modifications During our on site visit, we inspected the existing railing and some concerns regarding the integrity of the railing.
The specification calls for (6) swing gates to be installed.
The existing railing is very flimsy.
The Altus Team and Sgt. Eckelbarger voiced the same concern.
(Potential Offeror) recommends replacing the existing railing with something more robust.
This would provide the proper support for the (6) new gates.
Answer: Specification was change to ensure mezzanine railing meets capacity requirements.
4. A side note not addressed in the project but a major issue is the existing ball transfers located on the mezzanine.
Sgt. Eckelbarger stated that if the load is over 4,000 lbs. it takes several Airmen to push the load over the ball transfer section.
We inspected the drop in ball transfers and concluded they are at the end of their life expectancy.
A lot of friction. (Potential Offeror) recommends replacement of all ball transfer sections on top of the mezzanine.
Answer: This will not be addressed under this contract.
