F-15 Missile and MRL @ 3/9 O’clock F-16 Missile and MRL @ 3/9 O'clock Missile and MRL @ 6 O’clock
MRL Overview (cont.)
On the F-15, the missile or POD is going to be loaded always at the 3 o’clock or 9 o’clock position. This creates a rather large bending moment on the launcher and hence the most stress.
On the F-16, there will always be a missile loaded on the wingtips, with the same moment as on the F-15. There will also be a loaded asset at the 6 o’clock position, creating less stress on the launcher.
MRL Industry Day MRL Overview (cont.)
Major differences between LAU-128 and LAU-129 LAU-129 has Audio Switching Unit (ASU) Power Switching Unit (PSU) Advanced Missile Remote Interface Unit (AMRIU) Is not part of the MRL manufacturing effort but is part of the First Article Testing

Clean-up of the current Tech Data Package (TDP)
What is Required FA Requirements Meet requirements of DS32050-116 Part II (Prime Item Product Fabrication Specification for ….)
Electrical and Mechanical Testing at and after thermal soak Vibration Testing With and without CATM-120 installed Appropriate Electrical Tests (EMI) Dimensional Checks of all Parts and Assemblies
Dimensional checks will involve verifying that the parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies meet dimensions called out on the associated drawings. The tool(s) used for these measurements will be based on tolerances, type of measurement, and magnitude of measurement.
MRL Industry Day What is Required (cont.)
FA Requirements Material Certifications Chemistry Heat Treat Tensile Country of Origin Preapproval of materials from Asia will be required Finish Certifications
PEO
DLC
Passivation Chem Film Paint
SFL
Form-Fit-Function (FFF) at Robins AFB and various AF bases
Any time a process is performed or applied on a part, sub-assembly, or assembly, a certification by the vendor performing the task will be provided. This includes certifications on raw material which show that it meets required MIL or Industry specification for physical and chemical parameters. This also includes pre or post processing, plating, or finishing as well as marking. If a specification is called out, a certification will be required to prove that it was met.

TDP Clean-up Re-create each drawing Software is Solidworks v17 Update Industry Specifications Change coating requirements as needed Incorporate hanging ECO’s and NOR’s Roll revision Work with EBREM and Tech Data personnel on incorporation of revised drawings into JEDMICS Update Test and Process Specifications Update 3D models If required Electrical Harness will be completed independently Update assembly torque specs Data will be provided
There are ~120 drawings which will need to be recreated. This will involve taking the existing drawing and then creating a new drawing based on the 3D models which will be given as GFA. The same part views and dimensions can be used but the format and boiler plate from the layout will follow current Air Force templates. The Notes and BOM will need to be updated to account for changes to MIL specs and standards which may have to be changed as well as changes to part coating requirements .
All hanging ECO’s and NOR’s will need to be incorporated into any associated drawing.
The only time a 3D model might have to be updated is if there is a dimensional issue between the current drawing and the given 3D model.
Solidworks Premium or Professional will be required to create the drawings as well as to modify any 3D model.

64 Drawings have been updated with respect to coatings as of 27 March 17 ~36% Complete Due to the cost of the two new coatings, only 11 parts will receive the new coatings Drawings which will receive the new coatings have already been updated Excel Spreadsheet will identify what components will roll back and the individual rolled back drawings will be posted The remaining 56 drawings will need to be rolled back but changes made to the part itself will need to remain.
