This is an unreasonable expectation, given the lack of ability to access the radomes post installation period and provide any preventive maintenance on these radomes. Additionally It is assumed that after acceptance (post installation) responsibility of the radomes would transfer to the O&M contractor . |
Will the Govt consider removing this onerous warranty? PWS will be amended to state the 12 month warranty period is intended to cover delamination, leaks, and other faults present in a radome as a result of insufficient installation procedures, manufacturing defects, or damage during shipping. The contractor is not expected, as a baseline, to maintain regular site visits to perform preventative maintenance during or after this warranty period. The length of the 12 month period was chosen to account for infrequent site visits by current O&M teams and seasonal weather playing a large factor in revealing faults.
Per the radome specficiations, "The panels shall be designed to operate under operating conditions without delamination for 20 years." (3.1.2.16) and "Maintenance shall not be necessary in order to assure there is no loss of hydrophobicity or no delamination or panel joint seals over 20 years..." (3.2.6).
| 65 | Attachment 1 - PWS | 3.2.6 | Typical warranty on workmanship for radomes excludes leaks that develop after the radome SAT to include successful water leak test, where such leaks are directly caused by post-installation physical damage due to external impacts (including but not limited to objects striking the radome or biological damage such as birds pecking or removing sealants, weather that exceeds the requirements of the radome), and are not the result of defective workmanship or materials. Please clarify warranty language to exclude leaks due to external impacts. | PWS will be amended to state the 12 month warranty period is intended to cover delamination, leaks, and other faults present in a radome as a result of insufficient installation procedures, manufacturing defects, or damage during shipping. |
| 66 | Attachment 1 - PWS | 3.2.6 | Warranty on workmanship for radomes excludes leaks that develop after the radome SAT to include successful water leak test, where such leaks are directly caused by post-delivery physical damage due to external impacts (including but not limited to objects striking the radome or biological damage such as birds pecking or removing sealants), and are not the result of defective workmanship or materials. Please clarify warranty language to exclude leaks due to external impacts. | PWS will be amended to state the 12 month warranty period is intended to cover delamination, leaks, and other faults present in a radome as a result of insufficient installation procedures, manufacturing defects, or damage during shipping. |
