About this file

This document appears to be a set of questions and answers (Q&A) related to a military contract for an Aerial Refueling Receptacle Cartridge. The Q&A addresses three key areas: Air Specification (Air Spec), Supplier Product Information (SPI), and general packaging requirements. The first section clarifies the Net Explosive Weight (N.E.W.) for an Impulse Cartridge, updating it from 0.0013 lbs to 0.012 lbs and specifying a 24-month age limit for energetic material. The second section discusses National Stock Number (NSN) revisions, confirming that version "T" of the SPI covers all NSNs. The third section provides guidance on item nomenclature for packaging, recommending the use of "Cartridge, Impulse" as the item description in accordance with MIL-STD-129 standards.

1. 02_Air Spec_final

a. Item 7 the N.E.W. listed is 0.0013lbs, however the N.E.W. of the 21084-7 Impulse Cartridge is 0.012 lbs. Is it possible to change the N.E.W. listed in the Air Spec, JHCS and anywhere else it is referenced?

b. Item 15 is missing the number of months that the energetic material age must not exceed.

Answer: 1. Updated Air Spec to reflect the 24 months that was not in paragraph 15, and NEW on the JHCS is listed at 0.0013 lbs

2. 06_SPI

a. The last SPI we received from USAF was F00-138-3770 revision P and the latest revision shown is T. One of the changes from P to T is the NSN, WAS:

1377-00-138-3770, IS: 1377-00-299-1512. Asking for clarification, is the NSN listed in the SPI for a wide variety of products and not specific to the F-15 Ariel Refueling Cartridge? The NSN listed in many other places is 1337-00- 5371, I assume this is the correct NSN to use on all packaging.

Answer: 2. Version “T” of the SPI covers all NSNs.

3. General

a. Per MIL-STD-129 the packaging shall be marked with the item description/nomenclature as it appears in the contract. Contract FA821325R3008_0001 identifies the item as “Aerial Refueling Receptacle CTG” while other attached documents identify the item as “Cartridge, Impulse” or “Cartridge, Impulse for 15” or “Aerial Refueling Receptacle Cartridge”. Which nomenclature should be marked on the packaging?

Answer: 3. Use of “Cartridge, Impulse” maybe used for item description / nomenclature.
