About this file

This document is a site visit questions and responses document for the KC-135 Maintenance Platform Systems federal contract opportunity. The document provides clarifications on technical specifications for maintenance platforms, including details about platform requirements such as wheel lockability, usage in hangars and on flightlines, and vertical adjustment ranges. Key technical specifications include that the stands do not require jacks, will be used in both hangar and flightline operations, and will have specific vertical adjustment ranges (36" for aileron stands and 38" for cargo door stands).

The responses also outline procurement and development processes, noting that construction will not start until review and approval of the first delivered set, with government inspection expected within a few weeks. The contractor (CTR) is responsible for offloading and assembly equipment. The platforms must adhere to MIL-STD-1472 standards for movement force and personnel requirements. Additionally, the platforms will not require electrical or pneumatic utilities, and the government will not consider alternative elevation methods beyond the specified hydraulic power or mechanical screw jack mechanisms.
