About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for solicitation FA813224Q0005 addressing inquiries about hazmat recycling services for Air Force OC-ALC byproducts. The document clarifies that Safety Data Sheets are not available for the industrial processes generating the waste materials. The primary sources of the recyclable materials are a central vacuum system used for shop cleanup from grinding, drilling, and sanding operations on metal components, and a metal laser cutting machine that produces excess metal dust. Additional industrial processes may contribute to the waste stream, though these two are identified as the main sources.
The document confirms that the drums containing aluminum dust, mixed metal powder, and debris have been pre-profiled by the on-base Hazardous Waste Management Facility as 02002P ("Metal Treatment Rework - Grinding Dust & Debris"). Notably, the contents of these drums have never been recycled previously and have been disposed of through DLA (Defense Logistics Agency) in the past. This classification and historical disposal information provides baseline data for potential contractors to assess the material composition and handling requirements for the recycling services being procured.

Safety Data Sheet?
Safety Data Sheets are not available for these particular industrial processes.
A brief description of the industrial process(es) generating the aluminum dust, mixed metal powder, and debris?
One of the main processes is a central vacuum system that is used for shop clean up from grinding, drilling, sanding, etc. on different metal components. Another process is from a metal laser cutting machine and the excess metal dust is fed into the drum. There could be others coming from other industrial processes, but these are the main ones.
Any historical recycling or disposal documentation that may assist with material pre-profiling These drums have been pre-profiled as 02002P – “Metal Treatment Rework – Grinding Dust & Debris” by our Hazardous Waste Management Facility on base. The contents of these drums have never been recycled and have always been previously disposed through DLA.
