February 21, 2020 CLARIFICATION QUESTIONS & ANSWERS-Part II

FA8125-20-R-0011

1) Considering the government’s desire to have the stands as light weight as possible and be largely constructed of aluminum. Will the government consider relaxing the painting/powder coating requirement on stand components that are manufactured using inherently corrosion resistant materials such as stainless steel or Aluminum?

Casters need to be sized to allow each stand section to be moved freely by at most 5 workers. 12 in minimum diameter, 90 deg locking to allow stands to move parallel or perpendicularly to aircraft centerline, wheel brake required.

2) The government’s requirement to use COTS components to the maximum extent practical is note, however as all manufactures have unique technology or will existing technology or proprietary components be excluded from the deliverable drawing packet requirement.

Proprietary parts and technology can be used, but any parts used on the stands must be able to be readily available and easily replaceable.

3) Can the government confirm the availability of air and electrical facilities at the assembly site?

Air and electricity cannot be guaranteed at the assembly site.

4) Bridge Level Guardrails to the Pig pen – Noted in appendix A, pg 21. The government appears to require deployable guardrails (with 24” of adjustment) located on the crown of the aircraft to facilitate access from the bridge level to the pig pen. Guardrails are required to have a load rating of 200lbs lateral prior to failure. The deployed length of these guardrails (between 10’-6” and 12’-6”) will make it impractical to have them self-supporting. Is the intent that these guardrails will connect to the existing pig pen to support the deployed ends? If no connection to the pig pen is permitted please advise if an alternate method of supporting the deployed ends will be acceptable. This will likely involve attaching something to the fuselage of the fuselage.

The guardrails are intended to be connected to the pig pen.
