PROJECT: JLSS 21-0005, REPLACE ROOK B411

RFI QUESTIONS (Q) and GOVERNMENT RESPONSES (R)

Q1. There is some discrepancy between the specifications and the drawings. Please confirm that the SOW for this proposal includes removing & replacing the existing high & low metal roofs and replacing the translucent panels (in accordance with dwg A-4).

R1. Existing lower roof to be removed and replaced with new standing seam metal roofing system. All flashing, ridge vents and louvers to be replaced with new pre-finished metal to match new roof color.

Existing translucent wall panels to be removed and replaced with new translucent panels. Replace existing gutters and downspouts in the lower roof. Replace all siding above and below translucent panels.

Q2. Is SOW also to include new insulation and vapor barrier?

R2. Yes, new insulation and vapor barrier shall be installed.

Q3. Is there an existing EPDM roof beneath the existing metal roof that will be removed? And if so, is this EPDM roof to be replaced? Or is the Membrane Roof spec only for an existing roof expansion joint that is covered with roof membrane?

R3. There is not an existing EPDM roof beneath the standing seam system.

Q4. Ref. Drawing A-4 and General Notes on Drawing A-1: Drawing A-4 seems to state that the existing gutters and downspouts are to be reinstalled. In the general notes, on Drawing A-1 it states the gutters and downspouts are to be replaced. Which is the correct procedure of work to follow?

R4. Lower roof gutters and downspouts are to be removed and replaced with new ones.

Q5. Can we get a detail showing the structural support and roof system, including insulation requirements?

R5. Structural drawings and As-Built drawings will be provided along with matching existing insulation requirements. See “35-05-05 Aircraft Engine Inspection Repair Shop (1980) As-Built Drawings”.

Note: There is information concerning the translucent panels on sheets 6 & 7 of the drawings.

R6. See revised notes for Sheet A-1, attachment “Replace Roof B411 Drawings-Revised A-1 Sheet”.

Q7. Ref. JLSS 21-0005 Statement of Work, Page 2, Section I, Sec. B Repair Work: Can you verify what R-value will be required for the damaged insulation that needs to be replaced or upgraded? This would apply to the roof and wall insulation.
