· Attachment 2 – Seed Project:
· Q5.15: Provide specifications for the parking sunshade structure and roofing materials.
Ans: The parking sunshade structure shall be designed and constructed in accordance with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS 2014) and relevant provisions of UFC 3-210-10 for shade structures and vehicular canopies.
Structural Specifications:
· The sunshade shall be a steel-framed structure, either cantilevered or double-column type, depending on site constraints and architectural layout.
· Structural steel shall comply with ASTM A36 or equivalent, hot-dip galvanized for corrosion resistance, and finished with an approved epoxy or polyurethane paint system suitable for high-temperature environments.
· All connections shall be bolted or welded as per ACI 318 and AWS D1.1 structural welding standards.
· Foundation footings shall be cast-in-place reinforced concrete, sized based on structural loading and geotechnical conditions.
Roofing Material:
· The roofing material shall be sandwich panel sheeting or PVDF-coated steel sheets, with a minimum core thickness of 30–50 mm polyurethane or polystyrene insulation.
· The panel must be UV-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and capable of withstanding local wind loads (minimum 38 m/s as per Qatari standards).
· Drainage provisions, such as integrated gutters or downspouts, must be incorporated to manage rainwater runoff effectively.
General Requirements:
· The contractor shall submit shop drawings, structural calculations, and material data sheets for review and approval prior to fabrication.
· The design shall meet all applicable QCS wind load, fire resistance, and thermal insulation requirements.
· Safety measures such as edge protection, bollards, and reflective striping shall be provided around the sunshade area as required.
All materials and fabrication methods must ensure durability, low maintenance, and aesthetic compatibility with the project architecture.
· Q5.16: Clarify if the guardhouse is designed to be blast-resistant.
Ans: The guardhouse is not specifically designed to be blast-resistant unless otherwise stated in the project specifications or security design criteria. Based on the current design documentation, the guardhouse follows standard construction practices compliant with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS 2014) and applicable structural and architectural codes for general security and operational use.
If blast resistance is required due to the facility’s risk classification, proximity to sensitive assets, or specific security requirements, the structure would need to comply with UFC 4-010-01 “DoD Minimum Antiterrorism Standards for Buildings” and UFC 4-010-02 “DoD Security Engineering: Facilities Planning Manual”, which outline detailed requirements for stand-off distances, structural reinforcement, and façade performance against blast loads.
As it stands, no such detailing—such as reinforced concrete walls, anti-blast glazing, or progressive collapse prevention—has been indicated in the current design package. If blast protection is a requirement, the contractor shall notify the design team for scope clarification and potential design revision.
