ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS 02NOVEMBER 2017

1Q) Is the FOC a single mode FOC?

1A) Yes, all fiber optic cables (FOC) are to be single mode, either 12 or 48 strand as stated in the Performance Work Statement (PWS).

2Q)How many fibers do the cables have?

2A)All fiber optic cables (FOC) are to be single mode, either 12 (HMU 185sm) or 48 (57th 2600sm) strand as stated in the Performance Work Statement (PWS).

3Q)Please describe or provide a diagram of the source connection at the ERS.

3A) Equipment rack space will be available, plan for about 30m of FOC within the building. Take notice of Note 1 on page 1 of the Communication Concept Plan for new duct bank requirement.

4Q)Just to be clear, the contractor is providing the new conduit where shown in the diagrams 1 & 2, but the contractor is responsible for running the complete FOC from the ERS to the temporary facilities. Please let us know if this is correct.

4A)As part of this contract, both the conduit and Fiber Optic Cable (FOC) are to be installed by the Contractor.

5Q)Are the required switches 10/100/1000? Are they requiring POE?

5A)Switches are GPE (Government Provided Equipment).

6Q)Please specify the height of the racks, especially the half rack.

6A)42U high full height basis of design: Tripp Lite 42U Rack Enclosure 32" Depth w Doors & Sides 3000lb Capacity and 26U half height cabinet: Tripp Lite 26U UPS-Depth Wall-Mount Rack Enclosure Cabinet, Hinged Back.

7Q)Are they normal racks or is IP 21 required?

7A)Normal racks are acceptable for this project.

8Q)Is a UPS required, and if so, what type do you prefer?

8A)UPS are GPE (Government Provided Equipment).

8Q)Point 4.2.1 – paragraph 2 and attachments. Indicates HVAC is required where specified. The attachments all indicate requirement for HVAC. Is HVAC provided by split units acceptable for administative facilities or is a centralized unit intended with internal ductwork distribution or actual HVAC systems on trailers (2nd sentence same point) and hooked up through openings on the modular units.? Please note that trailer mounted centralized units for these types of facilities are never used for commercial market where split units are the dominant practice. For the Storage Facility a central unit with two ducts to provide the needed climatic conditions is the only solution given the particular structural elements.

8A)Centralized air conditioning is not required, only that the facilities have cooling / heating to meet the needs of the occupants and Italian norms.

ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS 02NOVEMBER 2017

9Q)Point 5.1 – paragraph 1. Since modular units are intended to compose the various facilities (excluding the storage facility) columns will be necessary. We presume this was taken into consideration when formulating your document, attachment and room requirements. Please confirm that columns were considered by virtue of specifying modular design.

9A) Columns are not shown on the concept plans, but were considered in the design. This is to allow for greatest flexibility from the design A/E and to allow for the Contractor's modular dimensions to dictate where columns need to exist.
