FA5587-18-Q-0007 Basewide Wi-Fi Questions & Answers Part III
1. Does the government require only Ubiquity APs or will government allow for similar WIFI system for the three bases?
Answer: Any end equipment can be used as long as it’s interoperable and works with our current controller software/network
2. Does the government require separate and distinct internet connections be brought to each building or may the vendor provide an aggregated internet solution as long as the coverage is 100% for the users?
Answer: Requirements will vary, but 100% coverage will be required for the intended users. Once a contract is awarded from this solicitation, Task Orders (TO’s) will be created off of the pricing schedule based on each location/building’s requirement.
3. Will the government provide make, model and year of current APs and Unifi controller?
Answer: Example of current equipment installed is:
Ubiquiti Access point P: 2.4 GHz 300Mb, ceiling mounted Ubiquiti Access point Pro: 2.4 GHz/5 GHz 600Mb, ceiling mounted Ubiquiti Access point Pro AC: 2.4/5 GHz 1000Mb, ceiling mounted Ubiquiti Nano NBExt 5 GHz: externally mounted point to point radio Mikrotik media converters Ubnt ToughSwitch Pro
The reason for the Indefinite Delivery/Requirements type contract is to give us the ability to replace end of life AP’s and AP’s that become faulty.
4. Will the government confirm there are no hazardous or asbestos in buildings requiring WIFI?
Answer: Before any work is started the contractor can verify with our Environmental department who have had surveys carried out to identify location where asbestos may be present. Furthermore the Wing Safety can answer any questions of hazardous locations. It is noted that we will not be installing any QoL networks in areas that are classed as hazardous. POC detail can be provide after award of contract.
5. What is the current inventory total of embedded Ubiquity APs?
Answer: We can say that we have Wi-Fi in over 100 locations throughout both Wings (RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall) with over 150 AP’s
6. How many WIFI systems are operational currently on the “We Are Liberty” WIFI network?
Answer: The “We Are Liberty” standalone network has 45 AP’s and runs the UniFi Enterprise Wi-Fi System which includes the UniFi Controller software.
7. Will the government confirm that all the current APs are in full compliance with their maintenance schedule?
Answer: The reason for the Indefinite Delivery/Requirements type contract is to give us the ability replace end of life AP’s and AP’s that become faulty.
