FA5587-18-Q-0007 Basewide Wi-Fi Questions & Answers

1. Please could you send a complete itinerary of the current equipment or give us a logon so that we can conduct an audit through the UNIFI portal?

Answer: Due to security reasons the UNIFI portal information will only be released after contract award. This Indefinite Delivery/Requirements contract is partly designed as an equipment sustainment vehicle for over 150 AP’s. We can say that we have Wi-Fi in over 100 locations throughout both Wings (RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall).

Example of current equipment installed is:

Ubiquiti Access point P: 2.4 GHz 300Mb, ceiling mounted Ubiquiti Access point Pro: 2.4 GHz/5 GHz 600Mb, ceiling mounted Ubiquiti Access point Pro AC: 2.4/5 GHz 1000Mb, ceiling mounted Ubiquiti Nano NBExt 5 GHz: externally mounted point to point radio Mikrotik media converters Ubnt ToughSwitch Pro

The “We Are Liberty” standalone network has 45 AP’s and runs the UniFi Enterprise Wi-Fi System which includes the UniFi Controller software.

2. Is the requirement to install new Internet circuits in all locations for the three year contract period? If so, where are these currently installed and what bandwidth is each of the circuits?

Answer: This contract will be an Indefinite Delivery/Requirements type contract. Task Orders (TO) will be placed against the contract when the need arises, listing the specific equipment, items, or service(s) required from Attachment 2 – Pricing Schedule for the particular buildings identified in the TO. Current locations that have Wi-Fi will have the choice/ability to increase/decrease/discontinue/expand their current POP/connection speed.

3. What controllers are being used and in what locations?

Answer: Example of current equipment installed is:

Ubiquiti Access point P: 2.4 GHz 300Mb, ceiling mounted Ubiquiti Access point Pro: 2.4 GHz/5 GHz 600Mb, ceiling mounted Ubiquiti Access point Pro AC: 2.4/5 GHz 1000Mb, ceiling mounted Ubiquiti Nano NBExt 5 GHz: externally mounted point to point radio Mikrotik media converters Ubnt ToughSwitch Pro

The main “We Are Liberty” POP/Controller is in B1087 on RAF Lakenheath.

There are a few Internet Service Providers (ISP) throughout the Wings who maintain a Point of Presence (POP) on the bases.

4. Is the requirement to look after any installed network switches? If so, what make and model are they and where are they located?

Answer: This requirement is to look after installed network switches. However, this contract will also allow the Government to add more network switches if required.

Example of current equipment installed is:

Ubiquiti Access point P: 2.4 GHz 300Mb, ceiling mounted Ubiquiti Access point Pro: 2.4 Ghz/5 GHz 600Mb, ceiling mounted Ubiquiti Access point Pro AC: 2.4/5 GHz 1000Mb, ceiling mounted Ubiquiti Nano NBExt 5 GHz: externally mounted point to point radio Mikrotik media converters Ubnt ToughSwitch Pro

As this contract is designed as an equipment break/fix action it is not relevant to supply where they are located at this time. The buildings will be listed at the time of TO creation. We can say that we have Wi-Fi in over 100 locations throughout both Wings with over 150 AP’s

5. Can we have a connectivity schematic and any other network diagrams that show the physical location of all installed items please?

Answer: As this contract is designed as an equipment break/fix action it is not relevant to supply where they are located. We can say that we have Wi-Fi in over 100 locations throughout both Wings with over 150 AP’s

6. Will the government please provide a count of the number of existing Unifi APs and controllers?

Answer: We can say that we have Wi-Fi in over 100 locations throughout both Wings, with over 150 AP’s.

7. Will the government entertain a proposal to replace the existing fielded APs and controllers with an alternate solution?

Answer: We are not looking to replace the entire network, this is a sustainment vehicle enabling us to replace broken equipment, offer service, and expand where needed.
