About this file
This document is a Description/Specifications for an Option Pallet Rack System required for three separate areas within Hangar 4 at Hickam Air Force Base. The pallet racking must consist of 4-post storage units with orange beams and green frames, matching existing racking. Each shelf must meet a minimum capacity of 5,370 pounds, with the system designed to store WRM and HSMR assemblages. The racking must comply with ANSI MH16.1 standards and include the specified manufacturer part numbers: 886723-HHG927 (Qty: 3) and 886723-HHG927L1 (Qty: 3). All racking must be constructed from steel with paint finish and steel wire decking.
The three installation sites have specific dimensional requirements: Site 1 is 40' length x 15' height x 4' depth with 3 shelves; Site 2 consists of two units, each 9' length x 20' height x 4' depth with 4 shelves; and Site 3 is 15' length x 15' height x 4' depth with 3 shelves. The vendor must deliver equipment to Hangar 4 and complete full assembly and installation, including anchoring to the existing floor, with a Period of Performance of 150 days total (120 days for delivery, 30 days for installation). Installation must comply with AFMAN 91-203 and OSHA 1910.176 regulations, maintain 18-inch clearance from ceiling sprinkler deflectors, ensure proper pallet support with 3-inch extensions beyond frame depth, and preserve HVAC airflow. A potential bill of materials is provided listing Quick-Lok brand components with specified quantities.

Description/Specifications for Option Pallet Rack System
Description of Requirement: Pallet racking shelving needed in (3) separate areas within Hangar 4 at Hickam AFB. Pallet racking will match the existing pallet racking.
1. Described below are the characteristics of the pallet racks:
• Pallet Racking
• 4 Post Storage Unit
• Requested Colors: Beams are orange, Frames are Green
• Requested Pallet Racking per shelf holds 7000-9000lbs, but it must meet a minimum
5,370lb capacity per shelf.
• Store WRM and HSMR assemblages
• ANSI MH16.1: The Specification for the Design, Testing, and Utilization of
Industrial Steel Storage Racks, developed by the Rack Manufacturers Institute (RMI), is the national consensus standard for pallet racks.
• Manufacturers Part Number: 886723-HHG927 (QTY: 3), 886723-HHG927L1 (QTY: 3)
2. Regulatory Requirements:
• Racking must be stacked evenly and securely. Use of ladders or forklifts are required to access items above shoulder level (AFMAN 91-203). Customer will provide a forklift for installation.
• OSHA 1910.176 (Handling Materials – General): These standard mandates that tiered storage must be stable and secured to prevent sliding, collapse, or falling.
3. Clearance and Capacity requirements:
• An 18-inch clearance must be maintained between the top of the stacked materials and ceiling sprinkler deflectors.
• The pallet must extend 3” beyond the frame depth on either side to ensure proper pallet support
• Each pallet should be positioned 3" or 4" from any adjacent post or pallet, unless the bay has a 3" pallet width
• Aisle clearance and rack placement must not impede airflow from HVAC systems.
Clearances are maintained not just for sprinklers, but for airflow.
4. Delivery and Installation Requirements:
• Vendor must provide delivery of equipment to Hangar 4.
• Vendor must handle assembly and installation of all beams, frames, foot plating, horizontal and diagonal struts, and protectors. Installation may require additional planning around already installed pallet racking. Depending on current warehouse suitability at time of delivery will determine difficulty of setup.
• POP – 120 day lead time to deliver product, 30 days to complete installation, 150 days overall POP
