About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details the cleaning requirements for a 10,000-gallon diesel fuel tank located at Building 933 on a military installation. The contractor must remove an inch of algae-contaminated residual fuel, pressure wash the tank's interior and 300 feet of 4-inch diameter piping using an appropriate cleaning solution, and properly dispose of all wastewater. Additionally, seven gaskets must be replaced, including one for the 26-inch diameter access hatch (secured by 25 bolts) and six on the piping, using gasket material suitable for diesel fuel.

The tank is situated approximately 180 feet from pavement, with accessible gravel terrain for vehicle approach. Upon completion of cleaning, the contractor must notify the CE Inspector, who will conduct a final inspection to confirm the tank's interior is clean and all waste products have been removed. The SOW includes attached site plan drawings, tank images, and specific details about the tank's configuration and surrounding environment to support the cleaning and maintenance requirements.

STATEMENT OF WORK

CLEAN FUEL TANK & PIPING, BLDG 933

May 8, 2025

1. The Contractor shall clean a 10-000 gallon diesel fuel tank and associated piping at

Bldg 933.

2. There is an inch or so of residual fuel remaining in the bottom of the tank and lines. It is contaminated with algae.

3. A Site Plan drawing is attached. The location of the tank is circled in red. Several pictures of the tank and piping are also attached.

4. There is a 26" diameter access hatch on top of the tank. The hatch cover is attached with 25 bolts that must be removed. A picture of the access hatch is attached.

5. The tank is located about 180' from pavement. There is gravel between the tank and the pavement. A vehicle can drive over the gravel to the tank.

6. Pressure wash the inside of the tank and 300' of piping. Use a cleaning solution appropriate for algae contaminated diesel tanks. The piping is about 4" in diameter. All wastewater shall then be removed and properly disposed of.

7. Once all work is complete, notify the CE Inspector that the work is complete. The CE

Inspector will then inspect the tank. The project will be considered complete when the inside of the tank is clean and all waste products have been removed.

8. There are seven (7) gaskets that must be replaced. Pictures are attached. One gasket is for the access hatch. The other six gaskets are on piping. These gaskets are about 6" in diameter. Use a gasket material that is appropriate for use with diesel fuel.
