About this file

This document appears to be a collection of questions and answers related to a federal contract opportunity for a Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) Tags System. The solicitation number is FA462624Q0048, and the contracting agency is the Department of the Air Force Global Strike Command.

The key details include:

  • The RFID tags will be used to track various types of equipment, such as support equipment and tools, primarily within a 2,500 sq ft indoor facility.
  • The equipment can be made of metal or plastic and may include composite tool kits.
  • While real-time tracking within a 160-mile radius is not required, the goal is to eventually enable reading of the passive RFID tags from the maintenance vans.
  • The equipment must be able to withstand temperature ranges from -30°F to 100°F, and can be used both indoors and outdoors.
  • The contractor must obtain approval for the RFID tags and readers from the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Safety Center within 90 days of the contract effective date.

REQUIREMENT NAME AND SOLICITATION NUMBER
Questions and Answers
Question #QuestionAnswer
1What types of equipment will the RFID tags be applied to?Support equipment, Torque Wrenches, etc. Edited down copy of MEL attached (see QA_Atch 1)
2What materials are the equipment made of?Metal or plastic
3Will there be Composite Tool Kits (CTKs) or individual tools trackedYes
4What is the square footage and layout of the facility?Approximately 2500 Sq Ft. Shown in the MMDF Floor Plan Drawing attachment (see QA_Atch 2). The area is names “VES Storage” on the drawing
5Will the equipment need to be tracked outside the facility? Not initially, but the goal of the future of this project would be to be able to have readers in our MX vans, and be able to read the passive RFID’s while dispatched to the field
6Is there a laydown yard for storing equipment? No, all equipment is kept inside, within an equipment cage
7Are vehicles, trailers, or pallets included in the tracking system? No
8According to section 2.1.4 of the PWS, equipment can travel up to a 160-mile radius. Is real-time tracking required within this radius? No, these cannot have real time tracking due to the sensitivity of our mission. Passive RFID only
9If real-time tracking is required within the 160-mile radius, can the contractor set up additional equipment at various locations to ensure coverage?N/A
10What are the temperature ranges for the environment, including the extreme ranges?Ambient temperature range is -30F Low to 100F High
11Will the equipment be stored outside? No
12Will the equipment be used outside?Yes
13The question is regarding how do we gain access to the referenced sharepoint: “All RFID tags and readers used must be 21M-LGM30G-12, Minuteman Nuclear Surety Procedures, approved within 90 days of the contract effective date. The info for this approval process can be found on the “Air Force Nuclear Weapons Safetey Center Sharepoint”.I would like to emphasize that not having access to the SharePoint should not be a barrier to bid, as NWSC’s opinion is that they can either obtain a CAC or submit the request through someone that does have access. (Big Sky Spark can submit the equipment if needed)

Additionally, attached is the G-12 Request instructions (see QA_Atch 3) on how to complete the request within the NWSC SharePoint.

Anyone with a CAC card can request access to the Sharepoint. If the contractor/company doesn’t have a CAC card they will have to work through someone who does.

There is already some RFIDs on the G-12 list as well as one in the process.

• One in process is by Zebra Technologies M780 10041052.

Already on the G-12 approved list:

•Rubee Visible Asset Blaster
•Rubee Visible Asset 1T tag
•Rubee Visible Asset Sidewinder
•Rubee Tag Reader PRP-100
•RuBee RFID Steel Security Harsh Environment (ru-bee.com)

If these devices don’t meet you needs, please submit a new request on the Sharepoint.
