1. In response to some of the other questions proposed, can you please clarify

- we can or cannot work on two or more sites at a time? And if so, will extra guards and inspectors be available?

Answer: See answer to question #2 on Question set 1 posted on 23 June. Maybe. If so, it will be a case by case basis.

2. Attachment 1 of the specs, Part 2 Material - underground marker shows tape to be 3". Plan sheet 3 shows 6". Which one will be correct?

Answer: 3" tape is what is required. The drawings have been updated to show. See Amendment 3.

3. In regards to Section 312100 3.3 Backfilling, H says a minimum of 8 compaction tests are to be recorded and documented. Is this documentation to be provided to contracting from an independent licensed firm?

Answer: Yes, the compaction tests need to be performed by an independent company licensed to conduct such tests.

4. In regards to I - will a set of guards be on this project? Are compaction requirements removed from project if soil crete is used with approved mix design?

Answer: It is the intent of the Government to have guards available throughout the project. However, this is not a guarantee. It is the contractors prerogative if they want to use "soil-crete"/"lean-crete" throughout the project. Regardless of the contractor's use of "soil-crete"/"lean-crete" throughout, they must still follow 3.3.I of section 312100.

5. How close can the new conduit be to the Hicks cable at the crossing point?

Answer: The new conduit cannot be closer than 2' to the HICS line.

Additionally, the new conduit must cross the path of the HICS line at a 90 degree angle.

6. Is the light switch post to be galvanized or painted?

Answer: The drawings have been updated. In short, the contractor has a few options: aluminum alloy, stainless steel, or steel galvanized inside and out.

7. The hand hole on the post does not spec a cover plate, should one be installed with waterproof cover?

Answer: Yes, both hand holes on the gate switch pole should have a cover plate with a weatherproof gasket.

8. Should there be something at the bottom of the post (welded to post) to prevent post from lifting out of the concrete?

Answer: No.

9. The pull boxes located at the base of the light poles - will they be placed on slope or moved to a flat elevation?

Answer: The pull boxes will follow the grade of the surrounding terrain.

10. Where the rip rap is encountered at the pull boxes, does it get set at rock height or ground elevation? The concrete may not be at ground height if rip rap is deeper than 6"?

Answer: Pull boxes will not be installed in a rip rap bed, a new location will be specified by the Government when/if this problem occurs.

11. How close can the power poles be to the West side of the driving pad?

Drawings and specs say put back in same location. Many of these poles are extremely close to the driving pads. Will they be set in new locations?

Answer: The new poles will be placed in the location of the current poles unless otherwise directed by the Government. If a new location is necessary, it will be within 6 feet of the current location.

12. Aiming the luminaires at night - will the inspector direct the position of the lights? Answer: The Government will direct the positioning of the lights during normal duty hours.

13. What hours can be worked at night to accommodate this portion of the work?

Answer: No work will be required at night.

14. How soon after work is completed at one site will this step need to be completed by? Answer: A site will not be accepted until this work has been completed.

15. Plan sheet 3 - Trench Detail:

Sand backfill around conduit 4" min to 8" max. Is this correct or is it 2" from center of conduit? Answer: As detail 2 on page 3 shows, there will be 2 inches of sand around all sides of the conduit, measured from the outside of the conduit.

16. Is this detail for outer trenches only, not where the compaction tests are required? Answer: The drawing details shows all trenches as typical.

Trenches which go through the driving pad need to use the material excavated from the driving pad as backfill.

17. Regarding 1.11 Warranty - Does this included light bulb replacement?

Answer: Yes.

18. Bid item 0001 (Section B, page 3 of 38), there will need to be a clarification on this bid item. Work at one MAF or one LF at a time? Please let us know which verbage is correct. Answer: There is only work at LFs.

There is not work at MAFs. Clarification has been made in updated specs.

19. We are having trouble getting quotes for poles due to warranty of 50 years (265600 1.11 a. 4). pole manufacturers will only give 1 year.

Answer: The specification has been changed to read "1 year warranty" and a "50 year design life" See amendment 3.
