About this file
This amendment to a federal solicitation provides clarification to contractor questions regarding a contract opportunity for installing security cameras in dormitories and building 2050. The amendment authorizes contractors to reuse existing communication conduits for running CAT6 cables to network cameras, but not conduits containing cables on the NIPR network. It clarifies that existing pathways from communication rooms to enclosures containing fiber can be reused, and contractors should run CAT6 cable from the enclosures to analog cameras. Pre-existing coaxial and power wiring may also be reused. The related federal contract opportunity is for installing security cameras in dormitories and building 2050 under solicitation number FA462023QA148 issued by the Department of the Air Force Air Mobility Command.

Amendment 0002 Page 2
SUMMARY OF CHANGES
The purpose of this Amendment is to:
1. Provide Clarification to Contractor Proposed Questions Listed Below
Q3: Clin 001, 002 (Building 2257, 2259) - Are the existing comms conduit paths containing Category cabling from the 2nd floor Comms rooms to other floor mech rooms able to be purposed for additionally routing camera cabling through building? No NIPR line air-gapping distance requirements apply to existing category cabling within buildings?
A3: Pre-existing communication conduits may also be used for running CAT 6 cables. Just no power with data. Could you expand on “No NIPR line air-gapping distance requirements apply to existing category cabling within buildings?”
Clarification requested:
Prior History with Air Force Facilities direction has been provided not to repurpose existing conduits for CCTV lines if conduits contained any existing Cat6 line(s) being utilized on NIPR network due to air-gapping requirements. Historically this has applied for offline CCTV systems however. Again, the intent of question was to ensure use of existing communications conduit pathways in building is authorized for routing the additional camera Cat6 cabling.
Clarification Provided:
The pathway from the individual communication’s rooms to each respective enclosure that contains the individual fibers are not to be re-utilized or co-shared. This fiber is in good health and is expected to re-use, thus to keep costs down.
The intent is for the contractor to run their respective CAT 6 cable from these enclosures to the analog cameras. The pre-existing co-axial whether that be RG 59/60 and associated power can be used as a pull string and removed once CAT 6 is in place. If the coaxial and power wire frees up conduit space, the re-purposing the conduit is authorized as this conduit is only using camera data/power.
Only conduit used for network cameras, these two camera conduits are authorized to be re-purposed, any others the answer is no.
Fill out blocks 15a, 15b, and 15c and provide a copy with your proposal.
