About this file
This is a Statement of Work for the procurement of flight headsets by the 6th Air Refueling Squadron at Travis Air Force Base, California, dated 26 August 2026.
The requirement specifies 25 new Bose ProFlight Series II model flight headsets (Bose part number 789812-5040) for use on the KC-46A aircraft. This is designated as a "Brand Name ONLY" requirement authorized by AMC/A3V for flight deck operations. The headsets must feature a six-pin LEMO plug, weigh 4.5 ounces or less, provide multi-level active noise cancellation, and include a flexible cable design. Critical functional requirements include a microphone compatible with both high and low impedance systems without interference when keyed, the ability to operate using one or two ears to facilitate cross-cockpit checklist reading per IAW KC-46 standard operating procedures, and positioning that does not interfere with boom operator 3D glasses use during air refueling. Additional mandatory specifications include Federal Aviation Administration Technical Standard Order (TSO) approval, the capability to disable Bluetooth during use, and selective donning/doffing functionality with dual earbuds that maintains headset fit consistency. The contractor shall provide a standard manufacturer warranty with replacement of any defects not caused by government damage or misuse at no cost to the government. Delivery of all 25 headsets must be completed no later than 60 calendar days after receipt of the order.
