1. I see that a relaxation chamber is listed as NOT required, however, NFPA 407 states each tank will need a relaxation chamber, especially for bottom-loading trucks. Please advise as to whether or not I should include the relaxation chamber.
a. The relaxation chamber is not necessary as we will be receiving fuel that has Static Dissipating Additive that negates the need.
2. Will all 3 tanks need their own separate pumping systems each? Or will we have 1 pumping system able to utilize all 3 tanks?
a. All 3 tanks need to operate independently, therefore will need their own pumping system.
3. I see that the spec shows transformers with 350KvA to 500Kva Transformers. Can you verify the voltage that will be utilized for the pumping equipment?
a. Plan is there will be enough power for all 3 SCATS to run independently at 40 HP and 300 GPM.
4. Are drawings required for bid?
a. Yes, per the Tank Requirements Attachment, drawings are required.
5. I was wondering once the tanks are installed will the customer provide personnel to perform the testing of the tanks, or do you need our personnel to perform it?
a. Customer will provide the fuel to allow the testing of all components, but it would be the vendors responsibility to perform function checks prior to handing it over to the government.
6. Do you need heat tracing or insulation?
a. No
7. Does the client have a MSDS for the Jet Fuel Product being stored?
a. Will be available from supplier once deliveries commence. Fuel to be stored is
Jet A with Air Force Additive Package (F-24)
8. Will you have external piping or internal piping inside the cladding?
a. Does ‘cladding’ refer to the canopy/covering for the piping, pump, filter vessel, meters, etc.? If yes, then those components would be inside the ‘cladding’.
9. Nozzles/Manways – Quantity and sizes (thief hatches, PVRV’s)?
a. Manways or tank openings identified in Table 8-1 of UFC 3-460-1
10. Do you need the tanks monogrammed?
a. Tank stenciling can be applied by owner after acceptance
11. Design/ Operating & Max Temp? ? Design Pressure? Specific Gravity? ???
a. Requested clarification on question from Contractor
12. In addition – gauges, leak detector, level indicator etc. that might be needed?
a. Identified in Table 8-1 of UFC 3-460-1
