About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers record from a site visit conducted on May 5, 2026, for the JB CHS B509 Lift Station project. The document addresses clarifications on scope, materials, equipment specifications, and contractor responsibilities for this federal contract opportunity.
The primary work scope involves replacing all rails, bases, and standpipes for four existing Sulzer pumps (XFP 150E CB-1.4 PE-105/4, 208v/3 Phase model, Part No. GX7J364C1111321); the pumps themselves are in good condition and do not require replacement. All standpipes must be fabricated from stainless steel with an 8-inch diameter. The enclosed work area has a total depth of approximately 27-30 feet. The contractor is responsible for establishing a temporary bypass system using a single Godwin pump and associated hoses, plugging the incoming manhole during construction, and proposing the expected period of performance for completion. The Statement of Work contains a drafting error listing bypass responsibilities for both the contractor and the government entity (CES), which will be amended to clarify that the contractor holds sole responsibility for this task. No specific completion deadline is provided; contractors must propose their own schedule as part of their bid response.

JB CHS B509 Lift Station Site Visit Q&A - 05 May 2026 @ 0900
Q. What should the material be for the standpipes?
A. Stainless steel.
Q. What is the diameter of the standpipes?
A. 8 inches.
Q. Are two pumps needed for the bypass?
A. No, just one bypass pump is sufficient.
Q. What is the total depth of the enclosed area?
A. Approximately 27-30 ft.
Q. Can you clarify what needs to be replaced?
A. All rails, bases, and standpipes for the four existing pumps. The pumps are in good condition and do not need replacement.
Q. Can you provide more information on the existing pumps?
A. XFP 150E CB-1.4 PE-105/4, 208v/3 Phase, with 49’ cables & SS Lifting Bails. Part No.
GX7J364C1111321. A photo example of the existing pumps is in the Site Visit Photos attachment (blue Sulzer pump photo).
Q. What is the completion date?
A. The contractor shall propose on the expected period of performance.
Q. Who is responsible to get the bypass?
A. The contractor is responsible for setting up the bypass pump and plugging the incoming manhole while the work gets done. The SOW erroneously lists this twice as the responsibility of both the contractor and CES. The SOW will be amended to reflect this correction.
Q. Are there any plans or material standards that need to be followed?
A. The contractor can use a Godwin pump and hoses for the bypass.
