Closed-Cell Spray Polyurethane Foam: ASTM C1029, Type II, minimum density of 2 lb/cu. ft. (24 kg/cu. m) <Insert density> and minimum aged R-value at 1-inch (25.4-mm) thickness of 6.2 deg F x h x sq. ft./Btu at 75 deg F (43 K x sq. m/W at 24 deg C).
2.1.1 Surface Burning Characteristics
As tested by qualified testing agency per ASTM E84and identified on label:
Flame Spread: 25 or less.
Smoke-Developed Index: 450 or less.
2.2 IGNITION BARRIER
Provide water-based, intumescent, ignition barrier coating approved by manufacturer of spray foam insulation complying with NFPA 286 and validated as Code-compliant alternative thermal barrier by ICC Evaluation Report in compliance with ICC-ES AC377 , Appendix X.
2.3 MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALS
2.3.1 Primer
As recommended by manufacturer, if required to ensure adhesion to substrate.
2.3.2 Sealant
Foamed-in-place Sealant: One- or two-component foam sealant conforming to ULC S710.1 or ULS S711.1 and the following:
Density: 1.5 to 2.0 pcf.
As tested by qualified testing agency per ASTM E84and identified on label:

PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
Examine substrates, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for maximum moisture content and other conditions affecting performance of the Work.
3.2 PREPARATION
Verify that substrates are clean, dry, and free of substances that are harmful to insulation.
Priming: Prime substrates where recommended by insulation manufacturer.
Apply primer to comply with insulation manufacturer's written instructions. Confine primers to areas to be insulated; do not allow spillage or migration onto adjoining surfaces.
3.3 INSTALLATION
Comply with insulation manufacturer's written instructions applicable to products and applications.
Spray insulation to envelop entire area to be insulated and fill voids.
Apply in multiple passes to not exceed maximum thicknesses recommended by manufacturer. Do not spray into rising foam.
Framed Construction: Install into cavities formed by framing members to achieve thickness indicated on Drawings.
Cavity Walls: Install into cavities to thickness indicated on Drawings to fully fill void.
Miscellaneous Voids: Apply according to manufacturer's written instructions.
3.4 IGNITION BARRIER
Apply spray-applied ignition barrier in accordance with manufacturer's written instructions and Evaluation Report.
3.5 PROTECTION
Protect installed insulation from damage due to harmful weather exposures, physical abuse, and other causes.
