Project Title: ADDITION TO CDC WEST BLDG 90306, Project No. CP1024656 Solicitation Number: FA441723R0009 Questions and answers as of: 2 November 2023
No. Drawing/ Spec. Number (RFI) Request for Information AF Response / Comments
Spec Sect 01 14 00, para 1.1.2
Working Hours, states that the regular working hours are Monday thru Friday, between 7 AM & 4 PM. Drawing A-111 provides a phasing plan for the addition, but provides nothing on work hours.
Normal work hours are 7am to 4 pm, but work outside of those hours, i.e. nights and weekends, should be expected.
Drwg A-101
The construction drawings indicate work being performed in the existing corridor above the ceilings.
a. Will the work above the ceilings in the existing corridor be during normal work hours, or will after-hour work hours be required?
The contractor should consider that some coordination will be needed between the CDC facility and the work needed. Work is expected to occur, but the contractor should consider that nights and weekends work should be expected.
3 Drawings S-101 & A-101
b. S-101 & A-101 Shows the existing wall & doorway between the addition and the existing structure to be removed. Will this demo (saw cuts, dust, noise, etc) be performed in normal work hours, or will it need to be performed during afterhours?
At this time the contractor should plan for this work to be conducted after hours, but more coordination is needed with the CDC facility.
c. Is there any other portion of work that will need to be performed outside of the regular work hours?
Any welding or excessive loud work will need to be conducted outside of normal work hours.
5 Drawing A-102
A-102 says to remove and replace existing ceiling tiles in the existing corridor. Grid will also likely need to come down in order to have room to install the new piping. For Bidding purposes, should contractors assume replacing with 10% new ceiling materials?
Yes, the contractor may expect to replace up to 10% of existing ceilings with new materials.
6 Drawing A-402
The Elevations on Page 46 shows 1/2" and 1" thick quartz " QZ1" and no quartz comes in 1/2" or 1" The choices would be 2cm or 3cm.
The mitered edges would elude me to them wanting a 2cm product. please clarify.
QZ1 is the abbreviation used in this project for the solid surface materials used on the Plastic Laminate Clad Architectural Cabinets. Please see spec. sect. 06 41 16.00 10
7 Drawing A-141
The details on page 39 shows (2) different insulation for roof system RIGID INSULATION and ISOCYANURITE INSULATION. which one are we going to use.
Roof areas require Polyisocyanurate insulation at R-30. Non-roof areas require rigid insulation.
There is a main 175 amp breaker that needs to be added in the existing switchboard 4MDP.
Who is the manufacturer? Please clarify.
No manufacturer is specified. The contractor is responsible for obtaining the best value from their supplier/subcontractor for the amp breaker. It is up to the contractor to ensure that it is combatable with existing.
What is the expectation for the marking TEMPORARY CORRIDOR on the floor?
Paint, a sign, tape? It would have to be able to be removed and not damage the floor I'd imagine.
Tape seems to be the most likely product. The contractor will be responsible for ensuring that at the end of the project it is removable and leaves no residue or damage.
