QUESTIONS & ANSWERS PART II
3 March 2022
Question 1: Structural drawings state stairs are by others, but architectural drawings show in this contract. Which is correct?
Answer 1: The resulting contract awardee shall be responsible for the stairs. The term will be removed to avoid any confusion.
Question 2: Can the government provide pictures of the current fire alarm system and electrical panels? If pictures are not permitted, can the government provide Manufacturer specifications of these systems?
Answer 2: There are 2 fire panels. Each is a Notifier 320 panel (Honeywell). One panel does the entire facility while the other is dedicated to the foam activation in the hangar bay. Please refer to sheet E-001 for electrical panel information.
Question 3: The EF-1 Spec has a few conflicting descriptions. It says Primer/Basecoat/Topcoat, but then references a 3/16-inch trowel-down for the Base coat, which isn't a proper application for DuraGard. There are some trowel-down systems, and some hybrid systems DuraFlex offers, but the typical "shop floor" system is as follows:
Epoxy Primer@8mils, Duraguard@16 mils, and single coat of pigmented ArmorTop for a topcoat. Smooth texture system.
Please confirm requirement.
Answer 3: Yes, this method may be used ONLY if it is equal or better than that is required by the specifications and drawings.
Question 4: The specifications define a 4" resinous base and drawing I-601 defines 6" base. Let me know if the base needs to be 4” or 6”.
Answer 4: 4” for resilient materials (i.e., tiles etc.…) and 6” cove base (epoxy flooring)
(see sheet I-601 which states the following below)
INTERIOR BASE FINISHES
EFB1- Epoxy floor coating, integral 6" cove base, dur-a-flex, shop floor, five component epoxy coating, color: slate gray
RM1 Resilient materials: tarkett; traditional wall base; 4" high thermoplastic rubber;
color: gateway TA4-WG
Question 5: Can you confirm the sealed concrete spec for me? Could be as simple as a 2-coat acrylic, but in the Duraflex line, I'd typically install Glaze4 primer, with ArmorTop topcoat for
"Grind/Seal" specs. That is a much more durable system than a 1-3 mil acrylic coating.
Answer 5: Yes, this method may be used ONLY if it is equal or better than that is required by the specifications and drawings.
Question 6: Reference Drawing Sheet I-601 “Room Finish Schedule”- Only AUX Stair 107 is listed and has the Fiberglass stair treads. Is this the only set of stairs that require fiberglass stair treads?
Answer 6: Yes
Question 7: What is the make and model and location of the existing Fire Alarm Panel?
Answer 7: There are 2 fire panels. Each is a Notifier 320 panel (Honeywell). One panel does the entire facility while the other is dedicated to the foam activation in the hangar bay. The location of the fire support equipment room 102 is where you can find some of the controls.
Question 8: Reference Drawings Sheet S-110 – There is no requirement shown or noted for shoring for the elevated deck. Will shoring for the elevated deck be required?
Answer 8: Yes
Question 9: On sheet S001 paragraph 3.00 subparagraph 3.05 makes mention of the owners testing agency. We cannot find anything where the contractor is to provide materials testing or special inspections. Please confirm owner is responsible for all materials testing & Special inspections.
Answer 9: Owner is not responsible for all materials testing. See Section 03 30 00 of the specifications for concrete testing requirements.
