# Contractor Question Government Response

This detail shows the top rail of the fence in line with the posts. It then shows the bottom rail of the fence on the outside of the post this is atypical for chain-link fence.

Does the government want the fence fabric running at an angle from top to bottom as shown on this detail?

If referencing detail titled “apron detail” submitted with Amendment #1, the chain link fabric shall run on the outside of the of the posts, top rail and bottom rail on the non-airfield side of the fence.

It also shows a 45 degree turn in the fence fabric after attachment to the rail and before it enters the ground. Is this detail correct or can the fence fabric just curve to the ground?

Fence fabric is required to be set in ground at a 45 degree angle to prevent critters from burrowing in the ground.

Gate B – Please confirm that the gate and both large posts with hinges welded to post holding the vehicle gate remain. Only work is to replace mesh with new fence fabric and remove reinstall signs.

Vehicle gate and both large post with vehicle gate hinges welded to post holding the vehicle gate shall remain on C-007.

Gate B – Also the pedestrian gate attached to this gate has two more posts making up the total gate assembly are to remain since they are built as an integral section for the pedestrian gate. Only work is to replace mesh with new fence fabric and remove reinstall signs.

Pedestrian gate attached to this gate has two more posts making up the total gate assembly shall remain.

Gate B – Also note on gate B sheet C003 notes new latch – not specified on Sheet C 006.

Contractor shall be responsible for providing and installing gate latch mentioned in sheet C-003 and C- 006 (item G under Gate B notes).

Gate C –Do sections that support gate on each side of gate remain as they appear to be designed as structural support for the gate post? Just replace mesh with new fence fabric and remove and reinstall signs?

For Gate C, Contractor shall reuse two large metal posts on the latch side of the vehicle gate and two large metal posts on the hinge side of the vehicle gate. Contractor shall remove existing fence fabric and replace with chain link fencing fabric. Contractor shall remove existing signs, store signs to avoid damage and reinstall sings when new chain link fabric has been reinstalled.

Gate D – Do sections that support gate on each side of gate remain as they appear to be design as structural support for the gate post? Just replace mesh with new fence fabric and remove and reinstall signs?

For Gate D, Contractor shall reuse the two large metal posts on the latch side of the vehicle gate and two large metal posts on the hinge side of the vehicle gate. Contractor shall remove existing fence fabric and replace with chain link fencing fabric. Contractor shall remove existing signs, store signs to avoid damage and reinstall sings when new chain link fabric has been reinstalled.

Gate E – Similar to gate B – vehicle gate is integral to gate frame construction. All existing framing to remain - replace mesh with new fence fabric and remove and reinstall signs?

For Gate E, Contractor shall reuse the two existing metal posts on the latch side of the vehicle gate and one large metal post on the hinge side of the vehicle gate. Contractor shall reuse the one existing metal post on the latch side of the pedestrian gate. Contractor shall reuse the one existing metal post on the corner connected to pedestrian gate latch side post. Contractor shall remove existing fence fabric and replace with chain link fencing fabric.
