Questions & Answers

Question 1: Please confirm there is not suppression on this contract. Is there any way to have the emergency cleaning be 48 hours or less?

Answer: Per PWS 1.1.4, the hoods and duct systems are equipped with a fire suppression system. Please see

1.1.4 in the PWS concerning fire suppression. Concerning the time frame for emergency cleaning, we do not foresee an emergency cleaning being required at this time. If any emergency cleaning become necessary, the

COR, to the maximum extent practicable, will inform the contractor prior to making the schedule of any work orders that may be identified as “emergency” in nature. This notification should enable the contractor to meet the five hour response time.

Question 2: On price exhibit E there is a PF Chang’s listed. The frequency is listed as annually. I have cleaned PF Chang’s in the Dallas/Ft Worth and Houston markets, and they were always cleaned monthly due to the extensive grease buildup. I just wanted to make sure that you want them quoted to clean only once a year.

Answer: As of recent, Building 340 will no longer be the location for PF Chang’s; it will now be an event center with a low use for exhaust hoods so the annual frequency is accurate unless found to need more. The frequency is set by the fire department. (Please see the revised attachment titled "Exhibit E - revision 1" reflecting the update for Building 340).

Question 3. I wanted to make sure it is ok to dispose of waste water in the grease traps. Do you know if all of the facilities are single story buildings with straight exhaust ducts? If not, which ones are different?

Answer: Per the PWS paragraph 1.1.3, wastewater may be disposed of down a grease trap designed to handle wastewater. All the facilities are single story please refer to the bid schedule for measurements and throats types.

Question 4. On the self-cleaning water-wash systems, are those systems working and washing on a regular basis? If they are not, we could run into clogged drains running from the hoods to the floor drains.

Answer: Currently all water wash systems are non-operational/functioning. Please refer to 1.1.6 - line L. If you encounter problems during service all issues will be annotated on the ASR.

Question 5. Do you know what type of exhaust fans are at each location, and is there adequate roof access at each location?

Answer: Sheppard AFB has varying varieties of exhaust fans but they are all industry standard types. Building

318 and building 4490 have roof access that warrants a catwalk. This will not be installed for the contract. If a lift is found to be needed for these areas, there will be funds in place to cover this need, but a lift will not be provided by Sheppard AFB.
