(1.1.1.4. Stability – Function) ANSI/BIFMA X5.5 – 2014 is a quality test to ensure office furniture in a 40 Hour Work Week have ample quality and durability. This standard does not meet 24/7 environment criteria. Our consoles are not tested to any specific standard all our consoles are made to order so to be tested you need to build a specific style that then gets approved, similar to electrical components.

However, our facility is ISO 9001:2015 certified. Is it possible to deviate from the Specification if manufacturer provides 5+ year warranty for 24/7 use. Please conform if an exception can be made here for this item. ANSWER We do not want to deviate from the ANSI/BIFMA X5.5 Standard.

(1.1.2.1 – Keyboard/Input Surface – Sitting/Standing) – The Lifting columns meant to support consoles with an adjustment range from 5th percentile female to 95th percentile male do not have the same strength as a others. The console would need to have 5+ lifting columns on this surface and the monitor surface to support this weight requirement, which will also greatly increase cost. Is it possible to reduce the weight limit to 300 or 400 lbs if that height adjustment range is required. ANSWER: We will not deviate from the 500 pounds

(1.1.5.5. Console Tops and Side Surfaces) – Manufacturer Consoles utilize both a T-Mold Nosing for the worksurface and Edge banding on it’s side panels. T Mold nosing is an extremely strong and durable way to build a worksurface. Further it is something which can be easily field repairable. Our Consoles are built for 24/7 environments and are utilized across the country by the FAA, AMTRAK and large private organizations. Further our consoles carry a lifetime warranty on all manufactured parts. Please conform if an exception can be made here from this requirement. ANSWER: I do not want to except edge banding because it will always chip off or split.

(1.1.8 Acoustical Panel System) – Can you clarify the intent on this system? We are not sure how this is meant to be applied to the console. ANSWER: Acoustical Panel systems are used to cut down the noise in the room. The room is one big open area.

(1.1.10.4 CPU Enclosures) Our Consoles are built with both front and rear access. We do not put a hinge panel on top the metal frame as we believe this is a pinching / safety hazard and could fall on top someone’s hands. Please conform if an exception can be made here for safety reasons. ANSWER We can make an exception for this.

(1.1.10.7 CPU Enclosures) Our Consoles are built so that there is both computer storage and lifting column housing in the same cabinet. Which are designed to hold & not damage mission-critical equipment. Please conform if an exception can be made here from this requirement. ANSWER: No exception for this section.

(1.1.13.2 Project Considerations) Can you clarify your intent on “Installation Shall not exceed eight weeks” do you mean the consoles need to be manufactured, delivered, and installed in eight weeks? Or that the winning contractor cannot spend eight weeks on site? ANSWER: Project completion eight weeks from contract award to completed installation.

Security Compliance: Are there any specific security compliance standards the furniture needs to meet, particularly concerning data protection and hardware security in the dispatch consoles?

ANSWER: The furniture must meet the requirements of ANSI/HFES 100-2007

Technological Integration: Beyond cable management, are there any specific requirements or preferences for integrating technology such as power supply solutions, USB ports, or network connectivity directly into the furniture? ANSWER: Refer to 1.1.12.2 and Section 1.1.11 in the SOO

Aesthetic Preferences: Does the Emergency Communication Center have any specific aesthetic or design themes that the furniture needs to complement or adhere to? ANSWER: No, the room is an open floor plan with no other furniture.

Future Scalability: Could you elaborate on any anticipated future expansions or modifications to the center that we should consider in our furniture design to ensure scalability and adaptability?

ANSWER: No other future expansions of the ECC

Additional Functional Requirements: Are there any other functional requirements or preferences for the furniture that have not been covered in the Statement of Objectives, such as specific drawer configurations, locking mechanisms, or ergonomic considerations for differently abled personnel? ANSWER: No certain drawer configurations or locking mechanisms.
