About this file

These are Global Water Technology (GWT) service reports documenting water treatment services for the Norman Veterans Center in Oklahoma from December 2024 to April 2025, focusing on a condenser closed loop system. The reports detail monthly testing and monitoring of the facility's water system, with key metrics including conductivity, pH levels, nitrite, and iron concentrations. Initially, GWT was instructed not to add chemical inhibitors to prevent potential pipe leaks, which meant the system was at risk of ongoing corrosion. However, in the April 2025 report, a closed loop inhibitor was introduced, and the service technician noted that the system now has "proper corrosion control".

The service reports were conducted by different GWT representatives - Kyle J. Rossi in December 2024 and January 2025, and Grayson Lavin in April 2025. The testing was performed at the Oklahoma Veterans Center located at 1776 E Robinson St. in Norman, Oklahoma. Throughout the reports, consistent recommendations are provided about minimizing system risks, with a specific reference to ASHRAE Standard 188-2015 regarding water management programs and proactive biological testing. The site visit contact was Andrew Harnack from the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs (ODVA), and the reports consistently warn that failure to follow recommendations could increase risks of contamination, corrosion, scaling, or system failure.

Test Condenser Closed Loop

System

Conductivity (as mmhos) 621 pH 8.76 8 - 8.8

Nitrite (ppm as NO2) 0 500 min

Iron (ppm as Fe) 0.08

0.2 max

Opening Comment The purpose of my visit today was to perform initial testing on the closed loop system at this facility.

Condenser Closed Loop System Online I was told today that we are not able to add chemistry to prevent corrosion into this closed loop. GWT will not add any chemistry until we are told to do so. Corrosion of the system piping will continue without chemical protection.

Nitrite (ppm as NO2) There is no chemical inhibitor in the system. We were advised to not add inhibitor to prevent pipe leaks.

The facility is feeding powered sulfite to help scavange oxygen. There were less than 5.0 ppm in the closed loop today.

The above recommendations are designed to minimize risk and maximize efficiency. Failure to adhere to recommendations may put your system and facility at an increased risk of contamination, corrosion, scaling or system failure. Notify your rep of any current or upcoming system changes. GWT advises facilities falling under the scope of ASHRAE Standard 188-2015 and subsequent revisions to assemble a compliant water management program including proactive biological testing (Legionella).
