Subject: Bryant School – 230 Poplar St. Bridgeport, CT 06605
Dear Bryant School Design and Construction Team, After the preconstruction meeting on Tuesday, 1/20/2026 the KOMPAN construction team decided an alternative method of construction and sequencing is optimal moving forward.
Installing the playground and surfacing directly on top of new asphalt is optimal for various reasons including drainage, sequencing, and site simplicity. Asphalt is an excellent substrate for pour in place rubber. Please find the updated scope needed to achieve this approach.
Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to complete the following work at the Project site:
1. Demolition & Removal o Remove and dispose of all existing playground structures, including all associated concrete footings.
o Remove and dispose of the existing chain link fence, including all associated concrete footings.
2. Site Preparation o Install an approved subbase material to fill the existing playground area and properly prepare the surface for new asphalt installation.
o Grade and compact the subbase to meet necessary requirements.
3. Drainage o Install approved drainage outside of the new playground footprint.
o Connect and divert drainage to the existing main storm drain to ensure proper water flow and prevent pooling.
4. Asphalt Installation o Supply and install new asphalt in the existing playground area.
o Asphalt shall be installed to match the elevation, slope, and appearance of the surrounding paved areas.
Once this site work is completed. Kompan will install the playground directly through the new asphalt followed by the surfacing.
Please reach out to our team with any questions.
Sincerely, Bob Hoke, CPSI Regional Operations Manager Installation, Service and Aftermarket
