About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for boiler preventative and corrective maintenance services at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FermiLab) in Batavia, Illinois.

FermiLab, a Department of Energy facility operated by Fermi Forward Discovery Group (FFDG), seeks a subcontractor to provide preventative and corrective maintenance services for heating boiler systems across the 6,800-acre site located in DuPage and Kane counties. The subcontractor must supply all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, and supervision necessary to execute the work. Preventative maintenance services include visual inspections, leak and corrosion detection, burner and heat exchanger cleaning, safety control testing and calibration, combustion verification, valve and gauge inspection and adjustment, lubrication, electrical connection verification, and comprehensive system documentation. Special attention is required for boilers at the New Muon Lab (NML) and Central Utility Building (CUB) facilities, which require boilermakers to disassemble, clean, and reassemble two boilers at each location, followed by service technician tuning. All services must be performed by qualified, trained, and licensed technicians compliant with federal, state, local, and FFDG safety regulations, including OSHA requirements and proper personal protective equipment use. Preventative maintenance reports must be submitted after each inspection, and corrective maintenance reports must document work performed, parts replaced, and system status. The subcontract requires two full work days advance notice for utility shutdowns (five days for radiography sources). The estimated period of performance runs from October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2031. Deliverables include inspection and maintenance reports as needed and invoices.
