About this file

This is an Addendum 5 Questions & Answers document for Texas Southern University's Procurement Services related to ITB #717-26-735 for hot water and steam boiler removal and replacement. The project involves the disconnection, demolition, and removal of existing Sellers Model boilers (two 300 BHP hot water boilers and one 125HP steam boiler) located at the Satellite Plant and New Science Center Building, followed by installation of three replacement Sellers brand boilers with associated piping, flue vents, gas systems, electrical components, and a new 3-way mixing valve. Key clarifications from this addendum address operational constraints and technical specifications: temporary hot water or steam is not required during construction; crane work, offloading, and staging may occur during school hours; existing flue vent stacks will not be removed but require support until new boilers are installed; all three stacks will be reused; the existing boilers must be removed from the premises; BAS wiring exists for control and monitoring of units and should be reconnected as required for the new installation; and the 3-way mixing valve is specified as an 8" 150# valve with a Bray Controller (NYL#-3080 Series 70-0200-113C3-536/A) operating at 24 volts with a 60-second turn time. The University anticipates replacement with OEM equipment to minimize piping modifications, and the scope of work listed is not all-inclusive.

This addendum addresses technical and logistical questions submitted by prospective bidders and requires acknowledgment through signature from all respondents. The document does not establish pricing terms, set-asides, or funding sources but serves as clarification to the original scope of work. Bidders must incorporate this addendum into their formal responses and demonstrate understanding of the refined project requirements, including the specific technical specifications for the replacement 3-way mixing valve and the requirement to maintain existing flue venting infrastructure during the transition. The mandatory walkthrough was scheduled for March 30, 2026, and the bid deadline was April 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Central Time.
