Area Wage Rates Summary for Midwestern State University – Wichita Falls
This is a prevailing wage determination document issued by Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls for building construction projects in Wichita County, effective July 2023. The document establishes mandatory wage rates for 30 trade classifications across building construction work. The prevailing wage rates apply to all workers employed on this project and include gross hourly wages plus fringes encompassing benefits, retirement contributions, and vacation pay. Contractors are responsible for classifying workers according to the published classifications and ensuring that workers are paid at or above the determined rates. Unlisted classifications may not be added after contract award, and the listed job classifications are not intended to be exhaustive of all possible trades that may be required on a construction project.
The prevailing wage rates range from $14.45 per hour for painters (the lowest rate) to $34.88 per hour for elevator mechanics (the highest rate). Other notably high-wage classifications include plumber/pipefitter journeymen at $27.22 per hour and electrician-journeymen at $26.99 per hour. The fringe benefits component includes employer-paid portions of medical care, longer-term disability, short-term disability, dental care, vision care, and life insurance. All contractors bidding on this project must comply with these established rates, and workers must be appropriately classified to ensure compliance with prevailing wage requirements.
