About this file
This document is the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance chapter from the NFPA 409 standard for Aircraft Hangars. It outlines the inspection and testing requirements for various fire protection system components in aircraft hangars, including sprinklers, valves, foam proportioning devices, detectors, and more. The required frequency of inspections and tests ranges from weekly visual checks to 5-year operational discharge tests. Records of all inspections and tests must be maintained.
The related federal contract opportunity is for fire suppression system inspections and maintenance services for the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station in Port Angeles, Washington. This is a small business set-aside solicitation seeking a contractor to provide all personnel, equipment, transportation, tools, materials, supervision, and other items and services necessary to inspect, test, and maintain the fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA standards. The government will award a firm-fixed-price contract to the lowest priced technically acceptable offeror.
