Substitution not accepted - specified drinking fountain is consistent with the Owner desired standard for the campus.
2 E001 General Note B & Div 28 Spec 1.02 & 1.03.
a. Can we confirm the overview and scope of work in the div 28 fire alarm specs apply to this project? It appears at least part of it applies to work in other buildings.
b. Are we to only install sleeves and boxes, or are we to include the fire alarm cabling, parts and programming work in our scope? Or is that by others?
c. If we are to include the fire alarm work, is there a list of Simplex fire alarm vendor(s) you can provide that’ve done work on site in the past and may already be familiar with the system?
d. Does the fire alarm system in EB5 need to integrate with the other campus buildings?
E001
Div. 28
a. Scope for Fire Alarm (FA) system is limited to work associated with EBV only. References to EBI - EB IV have been revised for
EB V in Spec Section 1.03. Div 26 contractor to provide second-tier sub for bidder-designed, fully compliant FA system per the
Athority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for EBV barracks only.
Additional requirements for FA system beyond those in 28 12 10:
comply with new cybersecurity requirements as per UFGS 28 31
76 (FACP/MNS addressable). These address minimum anti-terrorism standards for buildings with Mass Notification Systems:
See attached pdf. This should comply with AT/FP requirements as required by UFC 4-010-01.
b. All components and infrastructure to be included in the GC's bid. (Div 26 addresses components for the FA system.) Div 26 contractor to provide and install fully compliant FA system per
AHJ.

11 1) 11 52 70 Television Mounts – Sanus System, Model: VPML250 has been discontinued. Which product should we substitute this with?
2) Is the louver trim intended to be factory primed? if so, do you have a intended manufacturer in mind?
3) Most of the trim is slightly off what would be considered “Normal” measurements, are these all intended to be custom made? If so, the factory priming requested in the specifications would only be present on 2 sides and it would also only have one eased edge, If this isn’t intended can you clarify this for us?
11 52 70 1) Refer to attached modified spec section 11 52 70 which includes available Sanus Systems model # VLL5
2) The recommended louver manufacturer is Greenheck. Wood trim is to be factory primed per specs. Off the shelf, finger-jointed factory primed wood for painted, interior window sills and louver trim is acceptable.
3) Provide for configurations as detailed. For painted trim, all exposed surfaces are to be primed. Factory priming is required at interior window sill trim per specs.

14 General Note C on sheet A501 says "EGRESS STAIRS AND RAILINGS ARE
BIDDER DESIGNED." It goes on to say that drawings are for design intent only, and then tells us to see the Delegated Design Section of the project manual. However, Structural Detail 13/S701 would lead us to believe at least the railings are engineered if constructed per this detail? Please confirm. Also, are the stairs truly "Design Build" or do you want one of the assemblies that show up in the next three questions?
A502
05 51 00
Stair and railing details shown are for design and code intent and to obtain the building permit. The Contractor shall retain a design-build subcontractor to provide for engineered designs, plans, and permits for all stairs and railings. Final stair and railing systems must comply with all applicable codes and regulations.
See item 17 for reference to Detail 13/S701.
15 Keynote 38 on sheet A501 says that Stairs 01 and 03 are Pacific Stair model S300.
However, Project Manual Section 055100 2.05.A says they are model S200. Which do you want?
A501
05 51 00
Pacific Stair Quiet Tread S300 system is correct. Refer to updated spec section 05 51 00.
16 Keynote 37 on sheet A501 says that all the guardrails on all 3 sets of stairs, and around the Level 2 openings, are Pacific Stair R400. However, Project Manual Section
055100 2.06.A says they are model R200. Architectural Detail 2/A502 shows yet another. Which do you want?
A501
05 51 00
Pacific Stair R400 is correct. Refer to revised detail 2/A502 and revised spec section 05 51 00 Metal Stairs for corrected R400 reference to match.
17 Sheet S201 has a note pointing at the level 2 guardrails at all three stairs that says
"STAIR GUARDRAIL REF. 13/S701". Detail 13/S701 shows a fabricated HSS
Guardrail that does not match any of the Pacific Stairs callouts on the Architectural sheets, nor Section 055100, nor Architectural detail 2/A502. Please indicate what type of guradrails you want around the Level 2 openings.
S201 - Detail
13/S701
Level 2 openings require the Pacific Stair R400 railing system per
Architectural. Note Metal stair system & railings are design build.
Detail 13/S701 does not apply to level 2 openings.
18 Keynote S9 on Sheet A051 says "REMOVABLE BOLLARD, REFER TO CIVIL". There appears to be three of these in the south service drive. We do not see a callout for these on any of the Civil or Landscape drawings, nor any details for them. Project
Manual Section 055000 2.05.C gives a generic bollard explanation, but nothing to describe what you want here. Please indicate desired product.
A051 Refer to revised spec section 05 50 00 for the revised removable bollard section.
19 Specification Section 055000 2.05 FABRICATED ITEMS lists Delegated Design for a metal Ship's Ladder. We cannot find this on the plans. Please indicate if this is needed. Part 2.05 also lists a Canopy. We cannot find where this specification applies either. Please indicate where this is needed.
05 50 00 There is no metal ships ladder or metal canopy in the project.
These references have been removed from spec section 05 50
00.
20 Please confirm which gridlines are correct - Architectural or Structural? They are opposite both numerically and alphabetically. This affects which details apply where.
A101
S101
Architectural gridlines are correct. See revised Structural plans for corrected grids.
21 Substitution Request: Boiler B-1 Navien NFB-301C 23 52 16 Substitution is acceptable.

8/A701 See detail 8/A701 which has been revised accordinly.
25 Callout for ATFP Wall appears to be referencing an Architectural Page but the page is not listed. Please clarify. Callout reads "ATFP Wall Centered on door see AXXX"
C1.00 The references has been revised to sheet A705 for the screening wall details.
26 Sheet A601 under LEGEND - WALL TILE DESIGNATION identifies tile sizes to be 4x8 while the Finish Schedule on A921 calls for tile sizes to be 3"x6". Please clarify which sheet is correct.
A921, A601 Sheet A601 is correct. Tile size should be 4"x8". Refer to updated
Sheet A921 for size and manufacturer change to Daltile.
27 There is an area of about 625 sf to the west of Elm St that does not appear to have a hatch that identifies what type of landscaping/planting it should receive. Could this be clarified?
LP101 Stormwater basin to the west of Elm Street is not in project scope.
Refer to updated Sheet LP101.
28 please confirm Mirror size for the Mens and Womens restrooms.
3&6/A601, 7/A603
Mirror size is 18"X30" at 69" AFF. Refer to updated Sheet A601 and A603.
29 Arctostaphylos Uva-Ursi is listed in the planting schedule on LP101 but the hatch mark representing it does not appear to be included/applicable on the planting plan. Please clarify where these should be located.
LP101 No Arctostaphylos Uva-Ursi in the project. Refer to updated Sheet
LP101 planting schedule.
30 Gleditsia Triacanthos has no sizing per plan other than mature height 20'-90'. What caliper size of tree should be included?
LP101 2" caliper size for Gleditsia Triacanthos. Refer to updated Sheet
LP101 planting schedule.
31 Is the plan to have no plants in the cobblestone areas? Detail 4/C401 shows
"vegetation per landscape plans" and landscape plans do not appear to show no plant material here.
LP101, 4/C4.01 No plants in cobblestone areas. Refer to updated detail 4/C4.01
32 Landscape plans show 1"-6" cobble in the same areas that Civil plans shows 2.5"-1.5" clean drain rock. What material should go here?
LP101, C1.00,
4/C4.01
2.5" - 1.5" clean drain rock. Refer to Civil plans for cobble size and see updated Sheet LP101 planting schedule.
33 At the connection between the lounge and circulation room there is a cut through the building referencing a detail 7/A- 704.
a) Is that detail only used where there is an offset in the concrete block wall for the entrance at the north end of the lounge room?
b)Is the ceiling shown there supposed to follow the FC6 ceiling type(it appears to resemble it). If so, should the FC6 ceiling type use RC Channel shown at the ceiling type or the hat channel shown in the detail 7/A-704 and WIJ-2.1 assembly that the
FC6 references?
c)Also in 7/A-704 it appears to show suspended ceiling framing for the dropped soffit in the lounge area. That conflicts with detail 5/A-801 showing it as wood framing.
Which material should the drop ceiling be framed from?
A704 a) Yes, that is the only condition that detail 7/A704 applies to.
b) Yes, FC6 ceiling assembly is correct. Hat channel is correct for
2-hour rated ceiling assembly. Refer to updated Sheet A002 for correct assembly.
c) Light gauge framing can be utilized in lieu of wood at non-rated assemblies. KPFF does not require additional engineering provided the contractor selects and follows the prescriptive tables.
AHJ requires compliance with Tables 2506.2 and Table 2508.1 for construction of gyp ceilings.
34 Detail 5-A502 shows wood trim where the drywall terminates into a concrete block wall at the second floor.
a) Is that going to be used throughout the second floor only or are there any other locations on the second floor? On the first floor it does not show any trim.
b) If there is no trim we would propose to use a mud in plastic tear away bead where the drywall terminates into the block. We would also propose the same product where wood framed walls with drywall terminate at concrete block.
A502 a) Yes, this wood trim only occurs on the second floor to conceal the top plate where exposed at public spaces only. Extent of trim has been clarified on the reflected ceiling plan, 1/A202
b) A clean interface between drywall and bock is desired. The proposed method for the interface between framed drywall partitions and concret block walls is acceptable.
35 a) Also in detail 5-A502 it shows an above ceiling firewall. That is the only location I see so far. Are there any other locations where above ceiling draft stops or firewalls are needed?
b) Top of wall detil 5-A502 states maintain the fire-barrier to underside of sheathing.
G101 shows the location of 1 and 2 hour firewalls.
Do all of these walls terminate at the bottom of the sheathing on the second floor or on the first floor, do they terminate at the bottom of the FC ceiling types or go to the floor sheathing above?
A502 a) Above ceiling firewalls only occur at stairs 1 & 3. Draft stops occur throughout the attic per deteail 2/A103.
b) 2-hr walls and partitions terminate at the bottom of sheathing for the Lounge space per detail 6/A704. 1-hr walls and partitions at the stair terminate at bottom of sheathing per detail 5/A502.
36 The finish schedule on A921 calls out the tile manufacturer as IC Wall. Please clarify, is this InterCeramic? If so, they show the only available size as 4-1/4 x 12-3/4.
Additionally, InterCeramic appears to be closed or have very limited distribution in the
USA. Please clarify manufacturer and product.
A921 The tile has been revised to Linear by DalTile. See revised Sheet
A921.
37 Page A921 calls for tile size 3"x 6" Page A601 calls out a 4"x 8" tile. Which size is correct?
A601, A921 Sheet A601 is correct. Tile size should be 4"x8". Refer to updated
Sheet A921 for size and manufacturer change.
38 What trim is to be used at wall outside corners? Specifications list bullnose tiles as well as metal trim, 09 30 00, sections 2.02
B & 2.02 C.
09 30 00 -
2.02 B&C
Refer to Detail 16/A801 for bullnose tile conditions at outside corners.
39 The following areas don’t appear to be listed on the finish schedule: Senior Leaders
Quarters, rooms 201 & 202 Circulation, room 219 & Storage, room 209. Could it be confirmed what flooring is to go in these areas?
A921 Refer to updated Sheet A921 for updated finish matrix with rooms included as separate line items for clarity.
40 The finish schedule lists Stair Landing LVL 1 and LVL 2 but the floor plans do not list rooms with those names. What areas are considered Stair Landing?
A921 Refer to A921, Finish Schedule. The stair landings have been added to the schedule for clarity. See associated notes.
41 Detail 4/A704 calls for Painted Plywood at the underside of the roof rake, detail 1/A704 calls for FC Soffit at the eaves. Can you please confirm if that is intent, to have FC
Soffit at the eaves but not at the rakes?
4/A704 Fiber Cement soffit is intended at eaves and rakes. See revised rake detail 1/A704.
42 Will Hot Dipped Galvanized rebar be okay in Lieu of Epoxy
Coated Rebar for Precast Arch Concrete items?
03 45 00 - 2.04 Hot dipped galvanized rebar is acceptable.
