# General Technical Question Answer Date

1 x Sheet C.5 refers to Roadway

Aggregate, method 2 (Crushed

Aggregate) as part of the entire (12”, 24”, 36”) subbase fill. Is there to be a delineation where Roadway Aggregate, method 2 is a 6‐8” top layer and the rest is NFS material of some kind?

All subexcavation locations are backfilled with rdwy_agg, method 2 to top of subgrade.

The last lift will vary in thickness due to the supering of the roadway.

2 x

In the Standard Underdrain System , the backfill is referred to as Granular

Backfill . The specification (703.03a) has no identification other than AASHTO M

80 Size Number 3, 4, 5, 57, 67, or 7.

Assuming the material has to be screened and washed, what is the gradation of the granular backfill?

Refer to the ASSHTO M 80 specification 12/4/2015

3 x

The bid schedule pay item Temp Traffic

Control, Warning Light Type A has no reference in any of the plan sheets.

Where are these signs to be placed and what are these signs?

Refer to the MUTCD Manual and use as required 12/4/2015

4 x

The contract specifications say to have two lanes open by 8:00am unless otherwise approved by the CO and the plan sheets show possible lane closures using a temporary traffic signals. How often will the traffic signals be able to be used and when?

A Traffic Control Plan must be provided to the Project Engineer before commencing work.

5 x

Can you please confirm the plan for the underdrain system. From what we see, there are no drain outlets from STA 208+00 to

214+50, only perforated drain pipe running along both LT and RT sides of the project? Are there outlets on either end of the drain system?

See G.2 12/8/2015

6 x

We have a couple of questions regarding the plans for the Denali Park Road Repave job concerning the standard under drain and outlet system referenced on sheet G.2.

1. The standard under drain with outlet pipe detail shows the standard under drain on project right, Note: 1 references 453+20 to

459+00 Project Left. Please clarify

Per stations given the underdrain system is either on the RT or the LT. It is not necessary to show every situation with a generic detail, the STANDARD

UNDERDRAIN WITH OUTLET PIPE is a typical for either side. Sheet C.5 shows an example of the underdrain placement either RT or LT.

We have a couple of questions regarding the plans for the Denali Park Road Repave job concerning the standard under drain and outlet system referenced on sheet G.2.

2. Subsequently, if we are to install cross drains, this would make an additional length of pipe exceeding 1883LF (According to stationing the math checks for the bid quantity). Please clarify.

See FP‐14 605.08, the measurement of the 1883LF is the linear foot, from Station to Station, of the system and not the individual parts.

Spec 107.11 (d) states “do not turn around vehicles, equipment or loads longer than 22 feet inside the park boundaries except at locations designated by the CO.” Can WFLD provide at least one turn around location after MP 7 pit for turning trucks around and calculating haul distances?

See plan sheet A.3, beyond the locations noted there are no additional locations at this time.

9 x

Is asphalt oil grade PG 52‐40 incidental/subsidiary to bid items 40301‐0000 and 40101‐5600? Or should it have it’s own bid item like the anti strip and the AC oil for the reclaiming/foaming?

Incidental

We have a question about the Traffic Control

Supervisor Bid Schedule days versus the project description days. The bid schedule for Schedule

A, B, C has 102, 125, 154 days respectively. The

Project Description has listed for Schedule A, B, and C ‐ 84, 158, 218 days respectively. Please clarify which contains the intended Traffic

Control Supervisor bid quantity.

The Traffic Control Supervisor is required even if the contractor is not working
