AZ FLAP 234(3), Lake Mary Road Questions & Answers March 2, 2017 Question: There is a 12 x 9 precast box culvert specified. Would the agency consider a precast arch with CIP or precast foundations as an alternate?

Answer: Alternatives may be considered through a formal Value Engineering Proposal from the successful bidder.

March 17, 2017 Question: Due to the fixed completion date, what is the anticipated Notice to Proceed date?

Answer: The anticipated NTP date is April 28, 2017 Question: Will the fixed completion date be extended if there are any delays with the NTP?

Answer: If delays are government caused delays, yes.

Question: SCR108.01(a) states that no work can occur from Sta. 1363+00 to 1385+00 from March 1st, 2017 to August 31st, 2017 however per SCR625.03, seeding needs to be completed by September 15th, 2017. If this area is released to the contractor on August 31st, 2017 there is not enough time to complete the work in this area and seed by September 15th, 2017. We ask that seeding in this area be extended to October 6th, 2017.

Answer: Seeding operations will be allowed from STA 1363+00 to 1385+00 until October 6th, 2017.

Question: Since the bridge is in 2-phases, has enough time been accounted for to complete this work from NTP to October 6th, 2017?

Answer: The completion for all work is October 6th, 2017.

Question: What is the reason for having a fixed completion date of October 6th, 2017? Rather than a period of performance?

Answer: The completion for all work is October 6th, 2017.

Question: The above referenced project has pay item 27001-1000 Grout, Cement. The Contract Quantity is 25 CY. Per the summary sheets for this item, all 25 CY are located in the Bridge Abutments and Bridge Piers. The take-off quantity for this item, per the plans is substantially less than the Contract Quantity. Because drilling for this item is incidental to the 25 CY of Contract Quantity, it becomes a concern as to the intent of payment. Is it the intent of CFLHD to pay the full Contract Quantity of 25 CY, or to pay the actual placed quantity of grout?

Answer: That said the intent is to pay for that item at the actual quantity of grout placed. The reason there is more quantity than the calculated take-off is due to voids within the masonry piers and abutments which are expected to be filled during the grouting process.
