About this file

This is Amendment 1 to a procurement solicitation issued by the Iowa Department of Transportation for lawn care, landscaping, and snow removal services at its Ames and Ankeny campus locations. The amendment adds specific operational requirements and clarifications to the original bid solicitation (645-DOTRFB-2656-2026). Key service requirements include routine lawn maintenance, landscaping upkeep, and snow removal operations. The amendment specifies that snow piles must be moved to designated locations identified on a provided snow removal map within 24 hours following any winter weather event. For snow events of less than one inch, the DOT prefers pre-treatment with salt or brine. Site visits are permitted and can be scheduled by contacting Kyle.Williams@iowadot.us with proposed dates and times. The proposal deadline for this procurement is May 1, 2026.

The amendment addresses logistical requirements for the awarded contractor, including designated machinery and equipment staging locations and plug-in areas to be determined post-bid in consultation with the DOT Project Manager. Salt and sand staging accommodates both palletized materials, which may be stored in interior grounds areas, and piled materials, which could be stored uncovered in a south lot location, with final determination made post-award between the contractor and the DOT Project Manager. The amendment does not specify pricing terms, set-asides, incumbent contractor information, contract term length, or renewal options. Interested bidders should contact the Iowa Department of Transportation directly for complete procurement details, technical specifications, and evaluation criteria.
