Denison Municipal Utility Company

The majority of the primary distribution on center was upgraded by the utility company in 2003. Primary power dips underground where it enters the site from an overhead switch located west of Building 17 and Opportunity Drive.

Most distribution on the site is now distributed underground utilizing pad-mounted sectionalizing switches and pad-mounted transformers. There is an additional 13.2/7.6 kV underground feeder on center providing power to the gym as of the November 2005 Facility Survey. The utility is planning to convert the recently upgraded 4.16 kV distribution on center and change the incoming voltage to 13.2 kV, then to tie the two services together effectively loop feeding the center from two locations, all within the next ten years. Metering on center is a mix of primary and secondary, zoned and individual building meters. Storage buildings by the ball field, adjacent to HWY 30, are fed overhead from a pad-mounted transformer located where the property borders a small private college. Building 1 has the only 480/277V service on center. There is one center-owned generator, with both standby and life-safety automatic transfer switches, located at Building 1 and installed in 2004. The utility company owns and maintains most pole-mounted, photocell-controlled high intensity discharge security lights on center. The ball field has sports lighting for evening use.
