About this file

This file is a design files archive related to a pavement reconstruction and parking lot rehabilitation project for the Madison Wetland Management District (WMD) Headquarters and United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Visitor Center in South Dakota. The project, identified as Solicitation Number 6982AF26B000008, is being administered by the Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration.

The project scope includes pavement reconstruction of an access road and parking lot with a designed section of 3.5 inches of asphalt concrete pavement (ACP) over 4 inches of aggregate base material. The access road will maintain its existing two-way, single-lane operation with a consistent 14-foot roadway section, and includes reconstruction of the approach road apron between stations 106+02 and 106+74. The parking lot will be fully reconstructed with a revised layout providing eighteen 10-foot by 20-foot parking stalls total (eight on the north side with one accessible stall, and ten on the south side), along with an asphalt apron on the east side connecting to a concrete trail. The parking surface will be regraded to a uniform 1.75% cross slope, and the northern edge will maintain tie-in elevation with an existing 6-foot sidewalk. These improvements are designed to enhance safety and mobility for staff and visitors accessing the Payne Waterfowl Production Area while extending the service life of the access and parking surfaces.
