About this file

This document appears to be a definition guide for a state or local government contract related to timber or forestry management. The key details are as follows:

The document defines various terms relevant to the contract, including "Leave Trees" (which are trees that must be preserved), "Surplus Trees" (which can be cut), and "Competitive Brush" (which must be cleared). It provides a prioritized list of tree species to be preserved as "Leave Trees", starting with Pacific Yew and ending with other hardwoods. The contract specifies an average of 194 "Leave Trees" per acre, with a 15x15 foot spacing requirement. All "Surplus Trees" over 2 feet tall and under 6-inch DBH, except Yew, must be cut. Additionally, all "Competitive Brush" within 8 feet of a "Leave Tree" stem and taller than the average "Leave Tree" height must be cut. The document also provides guidance on slash treatment, including size and depth requirements.

The document distinguishes between "Roadside Stands" and "Non-Roadside Stands", with different requirements for each. It also provides details on the use of various flagging and ribbon colors to identify stand boundaries, "Leave Trees", and other relevant features. Overall, this document appears to be a comprehensive guide for the contractor to understand the requirements and expectations for the timber or forestry management project.
