About this file

This document is a List of Sustainable Products for the South Zone Janitorial Services Contract FY25, outlining federal procurement requirements for environmentally responsible product selection.

The contract requires program officials to identify and incorporate biobased products to replace non-biobased alternatives where feasible. Personnel must conduct market research to determine availability and cost of biobased products when developing statements of work, performance-based work statements, statements of objectives, and product item descriptions. The document references FAR 52.223-15, which mandates that energy-consuming products delivered, acquired for use in federally-controlled facilities, furnished to the Government, or incorporated into building designs must be ENERGY STAR® or FEMP-designated products at the time of contract award, unless the product is not listed in these programs or otherwise approved in writing by the Contracting Officer. FAR 52.223-17 requires contractors to maximize use of EPA-designated items containing recovered materials in service and construction contracts, with exceptions permitted when products cannot be acquired competitively within required timeframes, do not meet performance requirements, or are not available at reasonable prices. Product categories eligible for consideration include construction, landscaping, vehicular, transportation, park and recreation, paper, nonpaper, and miscellaneous items. The document provides a table listing ten biobased cleaning products (all-purpose cleaner, window-glass cleaner, bathroom cleaner, toilet bowl cleaner, disinfectant sanitizer, liquid hand soap, furniture polish, wood floor cleaner, neutral pH floor cleaner, and lime & scale remover) with corresponding numbering for tracking energy-efficient products and EPA-designated items.
