About this file

This is a scope of work document for a repository construction project involving site development tasks. The project requires contractors to complete multiple work items related to stormwater management and material stockpiling on an alpine site. Task 5 involves constructing approximately 500 linear feet of run-on channels on the west side above a repository area to convey stormwater and snowmelt. The channels will measure two feet wide at the base and two feet deep, spanning approximately 700 feet long, with side slopes no steeper than 2H:1V. Rock-breaking may be required during installation. Task 6 requires excavation, screening, and stockpiling of 600 cubic yards of one-inch minus cover material generated from within the repository footprint or disturbed road areas. Task 7 requires excavation and stockpiling of 1,200 cubic yards of unclassified cover material not exceeding twenty-four inches in diameter. All material stockpiles must maintain slopes no steeper than 2H:1V, and all work must minimize disturbance to the fragile alpine tundra ecosystem.

Payment for all tasks will be based on unit prices established in the respective bid schedule items. Task 5 payment is calculated per linear foot of channel constructed; Tasks 6 and 7 are measured per cubic yard of material excavated, screened, crushed if necessary, and stockpiled. The Project Manager will approve payment upon task completion, with final volumes for Tasks 6 and 7 to be determined through surveying conducted by the owner. All costs for labor, materials, equipment, and incidental items are included in the unit prices. Invoices must be accompanied by Daily Job Logs summarizing work performed.

TASK 5 CONSTRUCT RUN-ON CHANNELS

Channels will be constructed on the west side above the repository area to convey stormwater and snowmelt around the repository. Approximately 500 linear feet of channel will be constructed in this task. All native materials excavated for construction of the channels will be stockpiled on site for use in final grading of the site.

The channel will be two feet wide (2') at the base, and two feet (2') deep by approximately 700 feet long. Side slopes will be no steeper than 2H : 1V. Rock-breaking may be required to install the channels. The PROJECT MANAGER will stake the centerline of the channel in the field prior to construction.

Measurement and Payment

Measurement for this task will be made at the unit prices established in Item 5 of the Bid Schedule.

Measurement for payment will be made to the nearest linear foot of channel constructed. The prices bid for channel construction will cover all costs for completing the activities required under this task. Payment will be approved by the PROJECT MANAGER upon completion of each task. Such payment will be considered full compensation for all labor, materials, equipment, and all other items necessary and incidental to the completion of Task 5. Payment for this task will be made only for the unit price shown under Item 5 of the Bid Schedule. Invoices are to be accompanied by Daily Job Logs summarizing the work included in the invoice.

TASK 6 STOCKPILE 1" MINUS COVER MATERIAL

All cover materials will be generated on site from within the repository footprint or in already disturbed road areas. The PROJECT MANAGER will delineate the footprint of the cover material excavation area on-the-ground prior to construction. Excavation of bedrock or large boulders will be required. An excavator with a hammer is necessary to accomplish the task of generating and stockpiling cover material.

The top six inches (6") of cover material over the liner system must be no greater than one inch (1") in diameter to protect the integrity of the liner. Under this Bid Item, the CONTRACTOR is required to excavate, screen and stockpile 600 cubic yards of one inch (1") minus cover material. The CONTRACTOR will be required to screen the material with an on-site screen.

If there is not enough one inch (1") minus diameter cover material available after screening, the CONTRACTOR may be required to crush larger diameter material down to one inch (1") minus size until 600 cubic yards is stockpiled.

The material will be stockpiled as specified in the map below or in already disturbed areas, such as existing roads, following PROJECT MANAGER approval.

All cover material excavation and stockpiling will be done in such a manner as to minimize the disturbance outside of the repository. The alpine tundra is a fragile ecosystem that must be left as undisturbed as possible.

The cover material in the stockpile will be stored at slopes no steeper than two horizontal to one vertical (2H:

1V).

Measurement and Payment

Payment for this task will be made at the unit price established in Item 6 of the Bid Schedule. Measurement for payment will be made per cubic yard of 1" minus cover material excavated, screened, crushed if necessary, and stockpiled. Payment for this task will be upon completion of stockpiling and upon approval of the PROJECT MANAGER. The completed stockpile will be surveyed in order to determine the volume of material moved. The OWNER will accomplish the survey work. Such payment shall be considered full compensation for collection and stockpiling of one inch (1") minus cover materials, and all labor, materials, equipment and all other items necessary and incidental to the completion of Bid Item 6.

TASK 7 STOCKPILE UNCLASSIFIED COVER MATERIAL

All cover materials will be generated on site from within the repository footprint or in already disturbed road areas. Excavation of bedrock or large boulders will be required. An excavator with a hammer is necessary to accomplish the task of generating cover material.

After six inches (6") of one inch (1") minus cover material is installed over the liner system another twelve inches (12") of unclassified cover material will be installed. The unclassified larger size material will protect the one inch (1") minus material from eroding and will protect the liner system. Cover material under this Bid Item must not exceed twenty-four inches (24") in diameter. There is no minimum size requirement for the unclassified material.

Under this Bid Item, the CONTRACTOR is required to excavate, and stockpile 1,200 cubic yards of unclassified cover material. The material will be stockpiled as specified in the map below in already disturbed areas.

All cover material excavation and stockpiling will be done, following PROJECT MANAGER approval, in such a manner as to minimize the disturbance outside of the repository. The alpine tundra is a fragile ecosystem that must be left as undisturbed as possible.

The cover material in the stockpile will be stored at slopes no steeper than two horizontal to one vertical (2H:

1V).

Measurement and Payment

Payment for this task will be made at the unit price established in Item 7 of the Bid Schedule. Measurement for payment will be made per cubic yard of unclassified cover material excavated, screened and stockpiled.

Payment for this task will be upon completion of stockpiling and upon approval of the PROJECT MANAGER.

The completed stockpile will be surveyed in order to determine the volume of material moved. The OWNER will accomplish the survey work. Such payment shall be considered full compensation for collection and stockpiling of unclassified cover material, and all labor, materials, equipment and all other items necessary and incidental to the completion of Bid Item 7.
