Breastfeeding: A Priority in the Georgia WIC Program
The Georgia Department of Public Health’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, referred to as the “Georgia WIC Program” provides education with anticipatory guidance to prenatal and postpartum participants about breastfeeding while encouraging WIC participants to breastfeed as long as possible meeting or exceeding their goals.
Georgia WIC Participants are strongly encouraged to breastfeed their infants unless there is a medical reason not to. Therefore, all WIC staff are trained to promote breastfeeding and provide necessary support for participants to be successful in meeting their breastfeeding goals.
Project Overview: Breast Pumps, Accessories, Supplies and Services
Georgia WIC ensures that breastfeeding support is provided to its participants through the Peer Counselor Program, the WIC Buddy Program and the statewide management of centralized Breast Pump, supplies and accessory access.
Breast pumps, supplies, and accessories facilitate the initiation or continuation of breastfeeding for WIC participants. Thereby supporting WIC’s mission to increase the number of WIC participants who chose to meet or exceed their breastfeeding goals and breastfeed for as much as they can for as long as they can.
Titanium Level Customer Service
Georgia WIC focuses on Titanium level customer service to support lactating WIC participants.
