About this file

This is a Bid Bond template document issued by the City of St. Petersburg, Florida for use in state and local contract bidding processes. The bid bond serves as a guarantee that a bidder who is awarded a contract will execute the required written contract and furnish performance bond within ten consecutive calendar days of written notice of award, or such longer period as agreed by the City. The bond amount must equal five percent of the total bid submission and is submitted alongside the bid as a condition of bid acceptance. The bond involves three parties: the Principal (the bidding contractor), the Surety (the bonding company), and the City of St. Petersburg as the obligee. The document requires certification of the Surety's Attorney-in-Fact authorization through an attached power of attorney document and must be signed and sealed according to the Principal's corporate structure, either with an impressed seal or witnessed by two individuals if the Principal has no seal.

The bid bond serves as liquidated damages protection for the City in the event a bidder fails to enter into a contract or provide the required performance bond equal to one hundred percent of the bid amount after award notification. The template is formatted for completion with specific project information, bond amount, date of execution, and signature lines for all parties. This standard form, last updated in September 2020, applies to the City of St. Petersburg's procurement activities, including the PURE Storage Evergreen Forever Support Subscription agreement for continued renewal of support services covering six 384TB Pure Storage Flash Arrays currently deployed across multiple City environments.
