There are fire detection, suppression, and alarm systems at each location, some of which are interconnected.
The fire detection, suppression, and alarm systems vary in complexity depending on the nature and size of the location. Simple detection and alarms systems exist in some buildings with just a few zones while other buildings have more complex systems, or are interconnected between buildings. Bidders are encouraged to attend a site visit which will be offered as part of the solicitation of this contract. Alarm signals are sent to both the local fire departments via a master box (note this is being discontinued in the two Salem locations in June 2026 and the replacement reporting mechanism is not yet established) in some locations, and in some locations signals are sent to the Security Alarm system as either primary or secondary communications. Inspection and testing are to include the mechanical parts of the system as well as controller panels, signaling devices, all primary and secondary alarm and trouble communication routes, detection devices and alarm system connections to fire suppression systems, any parts of these systems not specifically called out here, as well as required annual testing for the fire suppression systems.
