About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for Task Order No. 1 under the OTWSC Construction and Maintenance IDIQ contract, detailing vegetation removal services at the USGS stream gage site 08208000 near Whitsett, Texas in Live Oak County. The contractor is required to remove trees, brush, and vegetation located on the upstream and downstream sides of both a concrete dam control structure and Highway 99 Bridge to enable quality stream flow measurements. Work activities include mulching brush and trees, cutting stumps to ground level, and sectioning large driftwood and trees into manageable 4-foot pieces for hauling or mulching on the downstream side of the right-of-way, subject to TXDOT approval. The contractor must obtain required local permits and comply with all state and federal regulations applicable to waterway work, while USGS assumes responsibility for obtaining TXDOT access permissions.

Performance requirements mandate strict adherence to OSHA safety standards, maintenance of fire suppression apparatus with a designated fire guard, prevention of damage outside designated work areas marked in yellow boxes on the provided figures, and protection of trees occupied by bird nests. The contractor is responsible for all costs associated with employee injuries, fire damage, and fence repairs or cleanup of illegally-dumped materials. All work must be completed within 120 days of contract award, with scheduling coordinated through the San Antonio Data Chief and final inspection and acceptance performed on-site by the Data Chief or Technical Liaison. The USGS Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center will provide technical direction and maintain full authority over work activities and project acceptance.
