About this file

This is a Scope of Work document for a National Park Service construction project at Lowell National Historical Park involving the replacement of cooling tower and mechanical equipment at Boott Cotton Mill #6 in downtown Lowell, Massachusetts.

The base scope (PMIS 337427A & C) requires removal of the existing rooftop cooling tower from the fifth floor via crane and installation of a new low-rise cooling tower on vibration rails with roof-level piping connections. The project includes replacing one 384 gpm 90-foot head condenser pump and one 500 gpm 70-foot head circulatory pump in the basement mechanical room, with variable frequency drives added to both pumps. Additional work encompasses replacing four two-way control valves, sixteen ball valves, one automatic control valve, four butterfly valves, approximately 16 linear feet of pipe and connections, three sets of vibration springs with concrete pad mounting, and programming the cooling tower and pumps to the Trane Building Management System. Electrical work shall include new conduit and wiring as necessary.

Option #1 provides for replacement of one circulatory pump in an adjacent building's basement mechanical room with a variable frequency drive, including replacement of two two-way control valves, eight ball valves, one automatic control valve, two butterfly valves, approximately 8 linear feet of pipe and connections, one set of vibration springs with existing concrete pad mounting, and programming to the Trane Building Management System. Complete specifications and detailed plans are referenced in the contract documents.
