About this file

These are engineering design documents for the Hite Launch Ramp project located in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. The project involves constructing a sustainable boat launch ramp and associated infrastructure to provide visitor access to the Colorado River. Key design details include:

The launch ramp will be approximately 3,529.34 feet long with a roadway and parking areas, featuring concrete ramps, aggregate base courses, and carefully designed grades to integrate with the existing terrain. The project includes upper and lower parking areas, riprap ditch lining, drainage control, and extensive grading to create a functional boat launch site. The design accounts for existing ground elevations, water levels, and incorporates features like concrete curbs, expansion joints, and proper slope management to ensure durability and environmental compatibility within the national recreation area.

ELC - At this steep of a grade, have rock check dams been considered in the ditches? Has hydraulic analysis been done to confirm that a 24" pipe is big enough to carry the potential stormwater flow that could come down this ditch? What happens to water after it exits the culvert/outlet protection? Does it sheet flow over soil or rock (there does not appear to be any natural drainage feature here)?

Why no riprap ditch lining from Sta 57+69 to 60+00? Appears to be the same grade as the section shown with the riprap.

ELC - Is some kind of rundown needed at the end of this culvert? Looks steep. Is it rock or soil?
