0:51 - 1:23
Shot: A basketmaker sits on a chair with a table next to them; the table has basket supplies and a finished basket; the person demonstrates how to start a basket [1:59 - 2:31: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Fpki5IqcS4]
Goal: Show where sweetgrass grows and how difficult it is to harvest
Action: A person makes a knot with a palmetto frond and a small bunch of sweetgrass, and then begins the process of sewing the basket; moves from wide view of person and their surroundings to a tighter focus on the person’s hands
Audio: Person narrates what they are doing; ambient nature sounds
CAPTIONING [on screen]
1:24 - 1:29
Shot: A basketmaker shows the bottom of a basket while information about the time it takes, how much materials is needed, etc., appears on the screen [2:31 - 2:36:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Fpki5IqcS4]
Goal: Show the intricate detail of the basket and it’s pattern; provide more details about amount of work and materials that go into making one basket
Action: A person shows a nearly-completed sweetgrass basket; the camera pans to focus on the basket from various angles and person’s hands
Audio: Ambient nature sounds
Note: Some text appears on screen in this video, this could be utilized but can be cropped out if it interferes with closed captioning. It is not a design feature intended for the video even though it appears in the screen grab.

GULLAH GEECHEE HERITAGE
CORRIDOR
1:30 - 2:00
Shot: A series of images showing the geographical locations of Gullah Geechee communities and heritage sites as well as Gullah Geechee traditional activities and practices. https://gullahgeecheecorridor.org/
Goal: Give viewers more context about the full Gullah Geechee corridor and share resources for visitors interested in learning more.
Action: Camera pans across an overall map of the whole Gullah Geechee Corridor, zooming in on 2 more regional areas; as the camera pans, some inset photos of sites, activities or events appear on the screen. Final shot includes Corridor website and/or other resources for more information before fading to black.
Audio: A voiceover / narrator describes the Gullah Geechee Heritage Corridor, similar to this description:
“The Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor is a 12,000 square mile, federal National Heritage Area designated by the U.S. Congress to recognize the unique culture of the Gullah Geechee people who have traditionally resided in the coastal areas and the sea islands of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. The Corridor is not a national park or a single site- it includes schoolhouses, plantation sites, churches, ancestral memorials, museum collections, halls and lodges, and cultural sites.”
Notes: Fade out to background music: Gullah Geechee singing Reference information: https://gullahgeecheecorridor.org/
2:01 - 2:06
Shot: Black screen with credit sequence
Goal: Acknowledge sources of video content and any video editors/producers
Action: Final scene fades to black; credits appear and once credit sequence is complete, attract screen / loop appears again

Audio Description Plan
Item # Description N/A Audio description is not part of the design contract but it has been allocated for in the production budget. The following assumptions have been made regarding the production method and pricing.
Purpose:
Audio description (AD) of visual aspects of exhibit is to be made available to visitors upon request. This system should be stored at the visitor contact desk so that rangers and volunteers may provide it to visitors who request audio description. Staff should be oriented to its functionality, storage location, and interface.
Description:
Audio description describes the visual content of video, multimedia programs, and exhibits for users who are blind or have low vision.
For the audiovisual program in this exhibit, audio description will provide the viewer with information that further describes the visual content not provided in the primary audio track. Audio description should be designed to integrate with the program’s primary audio track.
Components of the audio description design and production include:
• Delivery system selection
• Delivery system design
• Content preparation and script design
• AV software production
• System integration, configuration, installation
• Warranty, support, staff orientation, and manual
Activation:
An AD system should be selected that ensures that once the visitor activates the AD hardware, they do nothing more than explore the space, with the AD activating based on their proximity to exhibits. AD program design should include a system of Infrared (IR), radio frequency (RF), or Bluetooth beacons/ triggers located strategically through the space.
For the AV element in this exhibit, AD hardware should be engineered to activate synchronously upon video activation (push button) by a visitor to the exhibits who is using the AD program.
Development and Production:
Production will be determined based on the provider selected. Assumptions made about the process are:
• handheld equipment for playback of audio will have been designed with people with low vision and blindness in mind and have appropriate sensory cues differentiating buttons and other functionality.
iPhones may be used as the handheld device.
• The system will also require software files for the AD, IR/RF/Bluetooth sensors, and control equipment for playback.
• An audio guide will be about 2-3 times as long as the desired length of time that a sighted person would stay in the exhibit. It will encompass about 2/3 of the content, not the full exhibit text.
• Costs assume that this is not an audio accompaniment with actors, music, or re-created voices. Pricing is for two narrators describing what you see and reading the text and quotes in a streamlined way.

Costs and Components
Equipment specifications are not provided at this stage in design. Contractors who provide AD solutions and services may feature proprietary hardware devices and systems that come bundled with software development and integration. The chart at right shows how the project AD costs allocated may be divided.
Costs assume that two (2) handheld devices will be provided as part of the AD program.
Costs assume that between 10-18 IR/FR emitters or Wifi locations will be required for this project.
Possible system hardware - iphone 12 Possible system hardware - PLS-900-12-A1 ListenWifi Stereo/14 Mono Channel System
Possible system hardware- USB Beacon
